Forgive me for being a day or two late with my Siblings post this month but I’ve only just taken the photos – and the May photos are always very specific! Around the middle of May, ever since Amy was born, I’ve take a photo of the three of them laid on the floor together. I don’t know how it started, but I don’t intend to stop doing it any time soon. In fact I’ve just been telling Ben that I’m still going to make him do it when he’s an adult – I’ll invite him round for Sunday lunch then make him lie on the floor with his sisters.
You’ll notice that Ben has his eyes shut in every picture – apparently the natural light in the front room was too bright. Basically because he’s been sat in the back watching TV all day is now part mole. I decided I didn’t actually care as his grumpy face makes me laugh – and is exactly how he was feeling in that moment, when I interrupted his film to take some stupid photo . . .
And so how are our siblings in May? Two months into Lockdown?
To be honest, they’re probably better than I had expected. Individually there are struggles, but as a team they are doing well. Sometimes they all play together, other times the girls disappear off and leave Ben on his own (he never complains about this). Once or twice Ben and Chloe have teamed up, leaving Amy on the outside, and this isn’t something she copes well with.
Ben is revelling in his role as a big brother – helping Amy with her school work, giving her piggy backs when we go out for walks and cheering her on when she learned to ride her bike. His relationship with Chloe is perhaps a little more even due to the smaller age gap.
Considering how little time they’ve had apart in the last 8 weeks they are doing really well – occasionally we manage to take one child out for a walk / bike ride / drive in the car without the others but mostly they are just there, together and rubbing along well.
