I missed my Siblings post in September – I think time just got away with me. That seems to be happening a lot at the moment as I get used to my ‘new normal’ of teaching three days a week. I’m loving being back in school more and having a regular class too, I’m definitely remember what I love most about teaching. But it’s definitely taking me a while to get used to managing my time differently as I have a lot less time at home to do chores or to sit down at my desk and write!
But anyway, this post isn’t about me – it’s about the kids isn’t it.
At the end of August I wrote about how things would change for our three in September – about how they would now be separated by their school day with different buildings and different routines but, as you’d expect, they have all taken it in their stride.
They are all so happy to be back in school (or settling into a new school in Ben’s case) – happy to be back with their friends, their teachers and their routines. They all coped so well during Lockdown but they need the variety and social interaction in their days that comes from full time education.
Chloe is lucky to be in a class with her best friend whereas Amy is currently not really seeing her best friend at all thanks to them now being on different sites and also the local restrictions having prevented us from socialising – though as these have now moved from “must not” to “should not” we are starting to let them meet in the park occasionally to ride their bikes together.
At the moment we are simply doing the best we can to get out in the fresh air together as much as possible, planning outdoor adventures and dog walks to distract us from the fact that we are sick of the sight of each other and really miss our wider family and friends.
