Ben, along with thousands of other 4 year olds will be starting school this week. Another big step on his journey, another sign that my baby boy really is growing up.
This doesn’t feel such a wrench for us as perhaps it might, Ben has actually been attending Nursery at his school since last September, wearing his uniform and going to assembly and doing other such school type things!
We have talked about school a lot during the holidays to prepare him for the changes, namely a new teacher, staying at school all day and eating his lunch there. He’s excited, really excited. I can’t wait to see what he learns but I know I must steel myself for him telling me he has done / learned nothing! (Good job I know perfectly well that won’t be the case). I am expecting him to be really tired as he gets used to the longer days and the expectations of him. I hope he enjoys his school dinners, I loved mine as a child! I’m excited to watch as he learns to read and write. He is already really interested in numbers so I’m anticipating he will really enjoy his Maths work.
I’m looking forward to the freedom his longer days will afford me. I will be able to go out more with Chloe with a full day ahead of us rather than just short of three hours, this time will also be worth it’s weight in gold when Beak arrives in November!
I wonder if I will be feeling so brave this time tomorrow when I’ve left him?

I hope he's had a lovely first day – I think it's usually us mums who find it the hardest! My middle child has started Secondary today, I'm trying to stop myself from asking 1000 questions as soon as she walks through the door!
He was very excited to go. I'll admit I teared up as I said goodbye! Having a lovely quiet morning with Chlo though 🙂

Going to school is such a big step, we have another year and I'm so worried about it. I really hope he has enjoyed his first week and isn't too tired. I can't wait to see how he gets on.

I know exactly what you are going through as mine will start Reception next Monday, after being in the school nursery last year. It is still such a shock to me that he will be in "real" school. I hope he is still enjoying it and learning "nothing" 😉
