Sun, Style & Smiles with Nutmeg Clothing from Morrisons – Review

Shopping for clothes in the supermarket is par for the course these days, especially when it comes to picking up bits and pieces for the kids.  The low prices and general convenience make it super tempting to just pop that extra t shirt or pretty dress in the basket with your cornflakes and a loaf of bread.  Morrisons are relative newcomers to the kids’ clothing market having launched their Nutmeg range in 2013.  Over the last few years I’ve picked up bits and pieces for the kids with reasonably regularity and have always been impressed by the thoughtful details and overall quality – especially at such low prices.  People are always so surprised when they compliment Amy’s t shirt only to find out it’s from Morrisons!

This summer Nutmeg have sent new outfits over for Ben, Chloe and Amy to try out – my only stipulation was “no pink“!  I was interested to see what they sent over as I’m quite very fussy about what my kids wear and have all sorts of things refuse to put them in – stuff with ears, characters (unless on pjs and underwear), naff slogans . . . as I said, I’m fussy.

When the parcel of clothes arrived I was pleasantly surprised – each of them items we’d been sent cost less than £10.  Ben’s super skinny jeans were exactly something I would have chosen for him and whilst I generally avoid putting them in white tees (especially at this time of year when sun-cream can be the death of a pristine white top) it was perfectly inoffensive and Ben thought it was pretty cool.

Chloe was super excited by the frilly, girlie nature of her top and again, I don’t think I’d have bought it but it actually really suits her and I do love the yellow.  The loose fit and bare shoulders are gorgeous for a hot sunny day.  Her super skinny light denim jeggings are great for this time of year and the knee slits are obviously very trendy.  (Chloe wasn’t sure about them at first till I reminded her that both Mich and Aunty Custard have jeans with rips in them!)  Her denim bomber jacket is lovely, again I probably wouldn’t have chosen it but it really suits her and the fabric is really soft meaning it’s way comfier than your average denim jacket so I know she’s going to get lots of wear out of it.

Amy’s outfit is probably my least favourite – I do love the bright colours but the hanky hem is something I’ve always avoided and white leggings on a three year old?  That way madness lies.  However, I must admit she looks pretty cute – she’s clearly comfortable and is a big fan of how “twirly” her top is!
