On Thursday night, the finalists for this year’s MAD Blog Awards were announced. I’d been keeping half an eye on Twitter all evening, looking forward to seeing which of my favourites had made it through to the final this year but then got I distracted by putting the kids to bed, eating my tea, trying to get some work done – when I got a message from Donna simply saying “Well done!” it took me a second to work out what she was talking about, then my stomach flipped and I caught my breath as I frantically tried to find the list of finalists before scanning them to find out that yes indeed, my blog was there! I couldn’t believe it – I actually had to click through to make sure the link went to my website – but Dave just said “I knew it would be!”
To make it to the finals of the MAD Blog Awards for a second year feels pretty huge.  Over 8,000 blogs were nominated in this year’s awards, more than ever before.  Being a finalist, one of just six blogs in each category, is in itself a massive achievement.  I know some people don’t buy into the whole awards thing but when you’re tapping away on your laptop night after night, the fact that people do read your work and then enjoy it enough to take the time to nominate you for an award is a pretty big deal in my book.
Last year I won the award for Best Pre School Blog – this year I’m a finalist in the Best Schooldays Blog category – which just shows that my blog is living and growing as my children are. By coincidence, on the day the finalists were announced, I had actually published a blog post all about the SATs test that my son will be taking next month.
I’m up against some pretty stiff competition and the overall winner is now chosen by public vote – which is where you come in . . . Well done!!! 🙂 My First year as a blogger so only started knowing that they do events and awards like this. I got some nominations for best new blog but didn't make the final cut. Will be following all the events from it though. Its all very exciting 🙂
