For the last few years I’ve really liked the idea of having a little decorative wooden nativity scene. I’ve seen some super cute wooden ones in the past however I’ve always felt they were a little expensive and hadn’t got round to investing. This year we have an ASDA Wooden Nativity Set which officially is a toy, however I do plan to use more for decorative purposes. At just £15 I think it’s fantastic value.
The set contains everything you need to create the perfect nativity scene – a stable with a star, three kings, a shepherd, a sheep, an angel and of course Mary, Joseph and Jesus.
Each of the characters is instantly recognisable. Chloe is just 4 and knew immediately who each person was despite not having heard the Christmas Story for almost a year.
The brightly coloured characters are the perfect size and shape for little hands and are easy to stand up.
At first I set the Asda wooden nativity scene up myself on the drawers in our dining room to show that it could be used ornamentally – which is how I intend to use it come Christmas. I love the way it looks – though perhaps the tulips aren’t too festive!
Chloe loved playing with the set – carefully rearranging all the characters, giving them voices and acting out the Christmas story. It was very cute and I know it’s going to get played with far more than I had planned! I love the idea of setting it out each Christmas for years to come.

This wooden nativity set is no longer available so why not check out these alternatives:
