I’ve written before that when I’m choosing shoes these days, comfort is king. I hate shoe shopping if I’m honest – I have wide, size 8 feet and am well used to wanting to try a pair or shoes on only to find that they are either not available in store or that I just can’t get my feet in them.
Hotter shoes come in a range of width fittings
My experience of buying shoes from Hotter couldn’t be further from this. They carry a wide range of shoes in width fittings – and if they don’t have my size in stock, they will order them to be delivered to my house free of charge. But, even better, more often than not I will easily slide my foot into the shoe and breathe a sigh of relief. For someone who finds shoe shopping difficult, this is a refreshing change.
Hotter Fit Fortnight
As part of the recent Hotter Fit Fortnight, I popped up to my local store and had my feet measured. I discovered that my left foot is slightly bigger than my right – a slight different in size isn’t unusual. Although they measured wide (which is no real surprise) this is of course only a starting point. The staff at Hotter are super helpful and will spend as long as necessary trying different shoes with you to make sure you get the perfect fit for you.
Choosing a pair of boots for autumn
Ahead of my visit to Hotter I’d already browsed the website and had my eye on a pair of gorgeous maroon Chelsea boots – now the Tenby boots do come in a wide fit, but only in black and dark tan and I desperately wanted the maroon so that I could wear them with both black & navy outfits (I know I could wear dark tan with both black and navy too but the maroon just felt a bit different and brave!)
I tried on a pair of wide fit Tenby boots and they were super comfortable but I wanted to chance my arm on the standard fit and see how it would work for me. As it is, they do fit pretty well and, because I plan to wear them with tights for the most part, I can get away with them being slightly smaller than usual! If I’d been wanting to wear them with socks I’d have definitely needed to plump for the wide fit.
The boots are made from a “Burnished Full Grain Leather” with the classic Chelsea boot elasticated side panel – but the contrasting colour and slight shimmer add interest. (I’m not normally one for glitter and sparkle so trust me when I say this is just enough!) The boots fasten comfortably with a zip to the inside.
The maroon colour of these Chelsea boots makes them something special – and as I say, they go with both navy and black. They look great with leggings or tights and dresses so I know I’m going to be wearing them loads this autumn – in fact I’m sorely tempted to get a black pair too as I’ve got a couple of dress that need a black boot!
You buy in store or order on line
This season Hotter have a great range of boots from the knee high Sandringham boot (which could be a real game changer for you if you struggle to get boots to fit your calves normally) to the glamorous Dallas ankle boot – it’s definitely worth popping in store if you can to get measured and fitted properly but if not, order online and see how you get on!
This autumn I’m also wearing the Hotter star trainers – pop over and have a nose!
