Boggart Hole Clough is a 190-acre woodland and urban country park in the Greater Manchester suburb of Blackley, North Manchester. It is by no means a flat space with plenty of slopes and wooded valleys to explore (and trees to climb if you’re anything like my boy!)
The main paths around this public park are quite wide and paved making it pushchair friendly and good for bike rides (though it can be quite muddy in the winter). There are various routes you can take to explore the park, including a short loop around the lake. We usually cover a couple of miles when we do a walk around Boggart Hole Clough but of course you can make your walk as short or as long as you like!
There are plenty of benches dotted around Boggart Hole Clough if you need to stop and rest your legs, have a brew or just enjoy the surroundings! (We find sit mats very handy for making cold, wet benches useable!)
There is a very small play area for under 6s near the main car park on Charlestown Road – however we haven’t actually used it as dogs are not allowed in the play area and of course now my children are far too big.
If you’re looking for refreshments at Boggart Hole Clough, head to the Lakeside Café which is, predictably, by the side of the lake! Whilst we haven’t visited ourselves, I believe they serve hot and cold food as well as takeaway hot drinks. There’s indoor and outdoor seating available.
There are public toilets at the Boggart Hole Clough Visitors Centre which is near the play area.
Parking for Boggart Hole Clough
There are a couple of options for parking at Boggart Hole Clough. There is a big car park off Charlestown Road (M9 7DH) as well as a smaller car park near the lake (which, in our experience, seems to be the busier of the car parks). There is also some roadside parking available at various points around the park. Parking at Boggart Hole Clough is free of charge.
