Published earlier this month, I Saw It First! Ocean illustrated by Caroline Selmes is a game the whole family can enjoy.
The hexagonal, double-sided board features three hundred ocean creatures from vampire squids to whale sharks. The game focuses on your observational skills – how quickly can you find each animal?
The double-sided board is designed to extend play in that with two completely different layouts, you won’t be able to remember where all the creatures are hiding!
How to play I Saw It First! Ocean
Players take it in turns to pull a “chip” from the box and show it to other players – the chip has a picture of a sea creature on one side and it’s name on the other – then the race is on to find the creature on the board – the first one to spot it shouts, “I SAW IT FIRST!” and gets the keep the chip.
There are various ways to end the game – if you want a quick game then make it “first to twenty chips wins”, if you know that patience might be an issue or you just have a limited amount of time to play, you can set a timer and the person with the most chips when the timer goes off is the winner or alternatively you can just play till all the chips are gone and of course the person with the most chips wins!
The rules are simple but the game has the potential to be exciting and fast-paced!
Chloe took our copy of the game to school for “bring a toy day” today and said it was fantastic and everyone wanted to get involved and play!
