We popped Amy in the Beco Soleil V2Â as one of the straps was missing on the pushchair. Â To make life easier for me, Grandad got in on the baby wearing – I think it suited him! Amy was certainly happy in there and had a good sleep while we were watching the races.

Ben and Chloe chose a horse in each race and we put them a £2 bet on – Chloe didn’t quite “get” the whole idea of a race and was really quite upset that her horse didn’t win.  Once she got over the disappointment of the first race she kept asking “Is my horse going to win?” but didn’t understand that the whole point was that we didn’t know and we were just guessing which ones we thought might run the fastest.  She had one horse come in second, luckily one we had put an each way bet on, so she won a few quid but didn’t really grasp that bless her.

I chose horses for Amy (purely based on their names – I’m not one for studying form) and we managed to get a place so she won a few quid too – Aunty Nic was the big winner of the day though and won three out of six races! Â She treated everyone to an ice cream with her winnings because she’s lovely like that.

It's kinda cute that that didn't get the whole 'race' idea, I like it when they are little and need to figure things out….before the whole stroppy teenage 'I know' begins
oh wow last time i went to york races it was a sealed knot event and i slept in a tent next to the track! .. i have never been on a race day but it looks epic! xx
York Races is fabulous – I've been to other racecourses but they're not a patch on York (of course I'm biased as it's my "home") x

I've never thought to take my boys to the races but I think they might like it (but probably be equally as gutted if they didn't win). We're only fifteen minutes from Chester racecourse so I might drag them along with us next year.
Under 16s are free at York so I imagine it would be the same? You can always go "cheap side" too for a more relaxed day 🙂 It's great fun x
we have been racing but my daughter thinks its awful for horses so not going again! such fun though..
Loving the baby wearing, I wear my little one in a ring sling and feel so close to her, it's wonderful! 🙂
