Suzanne shares everything you need to know about Hardwick Festival at Hardwick Hall, County Durham!
What is Hardwick Festival?
Hardwick Festival is a boutique festival celebrating it’s 10th birthday in 2024 and set in County Durham, near the beautiful village of Sedgefield. Hardwick Festival boasts a line up any festival would be proud of; including bands, choirs, solo artists and DJs across 3 days this August.

Who is playing Hardwick Festival this year?
Expect to see Becky Hill (a family favourite for us!), Snow Patrol, Richard Ashcroft, Blossoms, The Charlatans and Reverend and the Makers to name a few a this year’s Hardwick Festival.
How can I get to Hardwick Festival?
With excellent transport links, Hardwick Festival is easy to find and accessible by car from the A1M and A19, by train into Darlington or Durham stations or by organised coaches leaving from surrounding towns and cities. If you choose to drive to Hardwick Festival, there is plenty of parking available only a short walk from the main gates.
Remember – like many festivals, depending which site you’re on, you may not be able to bring your car onsite so a sturdy festival trolley is a good idea.
Can I stay over at Hardwick Festival?
Yes! Camping, glamping and campervan sites are all available at Hardwick Festival – these are offered on a first come, first served basis and should be booked separately to your festival tickets.
What are the campsites like at Hardwick Festival?
Sites have clean, maintained toilets, showers and food concessions where you can pick up a morning bacon sandwich and coffee or a wood-fired pizza once you’ve partied your socks off.
What is there for families at Hardwick Festival?
Family Fun; on the festival site, you’ll find a dedicated ‘kidz zone’ to keep the little ones entertained. This changes from year to year. You can expect trapeze artists, workshops, Punch & Judy shows, a Kids disco, a rock showman- demonstrating everything fossil, rock and crystal related, an inflatables play area, children’s fairground rides and much more.
Grab wrist bands for your little ones here – write your name, number and a meeting point on one side, just in case you’re separated.
For the bigger kids and festival-goers there are thrill-seeker rides including the waltzer, the kick-down claw and super swings. Be prepared to hold on tight and scream loud!
What is there to eat at the festival?
Food and drink offerings are plentiful at Hardwick Festival. You can grab everything from chicken and prawn noodles, scampi and chips and hog roast sandwiches to greek gyros, halloumi fries and everything in between. There are sweetie and donut stalls and ice cream vans for those with a sweet tooth. Vegan and vegetarians are well catered for.
All food stalls carry out a ‘cash & card’ payment system, which I think is good, as often the wifi connections in the middle of a field with thousands of people using mobile phones can be patchy.
Drinks are obtained by purchasing tokens from lots of token booths spread across the site.
Don’t be fooled into queueing at the first booth you come to – the ones just inside the main gates get busy pretty quickly so it’s worth waiting till you see another boot. There are an array of drinks available from wines, spirits, cocktails, beers, ciders and Prosecco…the choice is yours. Don’t forget your water bottle, refill taps are positioned around the site.
And what about festival stalls?
Take your time to wander around the festival stalls at Hardwick Festival. You’ll find fabulous hats, feathery headpieces and everything sparkly. You can get your festival hair on-the stalls offer braids, plaits, buns, and of course copious amounts of glitter.
Merchandise- We love it! Thankfully the Hardwick Festival Merch isn’t quite as pricey as some of the t-shirts and hoodies we’ve been coerced into buying at concerts we’ve been to recently.
Look out for this year’s nominated charities for Hardwick Festival – Angel Trust & Solan Connor Fawcett. They usually have fun activities going on at their stalls.
Immerse yourself in the festival experience at Hardwick Festival
Once you’ve walked the festoon-lit path onto the festival site, enjoy every minute. Take it all in, people-watch, make the most of the photo opportunities, sing, dance and be happy!
The weather man is optimistic and promises we’re getting sunny days with temperatures of around 18-21 degrees this year – just perfect! We can’t wait!
