August is a super popular month for festivals in the UK – particularly the August bank holiday which has so many festivals that I actually have them in a separate list which you’ll find here: August bank holiday festivals – I guess we are all rather hopeful that the sun will come out but so far this year that hasn’t really been the case!
I’ll continue to add details to this post as I find them so if you know of a festival happening in August that should be on this list, let me know (and don’t forget, if you’re looking for festivals on the August bank holiday, they are listed separately).
I will keep this post as up to date as possible so do check back to see if I’ve added further festivals or more detailed information. 2026 festival tickets are already available for many of the festivals on this list and generally it pays to be organised and book sooner rather than later to take advantage of early bird pricing and payment plans.

Because the English school summer holidays seem to start a little later than usual, a couple of major festivals which are usually held in July have been moved to the very first weekend in August so as well as some old favourites, you might find some surprises in this year’s list of August festivals.

Camp Bestival, Lulworth Castle, Dorset – Thursday 30th / Friday 31st / Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd August 2026
Typically sitting on the last weekend in July but sneaking into August for 2026, Camp Bestival has long been on my list of family friendly festivals to visit. I love the idea of the annual camp theme, carnival rides and so much live music to introduce the children to. It always looks to be so full of fun and a really giddy atmosphere!
Tickets for the 2026 festival are now on sale with prices starting from £105 for weekend child ticket (aged 5 to 9) and £199 for an adult weekend ticket – but these prices will increase as the date gets nearer and the first tier tickets sell out! There is also a payment plan allowing you to spread your ticket cost over 6 payments.

Y Not, Pikehall, Derbyshire – Thursday 30th / Friday 31st July / Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd August 2026 | SOLD OUT
Y Not Festival had been on my radar for a little while before we finally bit the bullet and took the kids in summer 2019. In a similar vein to The Big Festival, Y Not Festival is more of a child friendly music festival than a family focused festival with a cracking line up of bands this year including Two Door Cinema Club (we last saw them in the pouring rain at Y Not in 2019!) The Streets (couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve seen Mike Skinner – this will be epic) and Dizzie Rascal (who my kids are obsessed with at the moment!) as well as circus skills, theatre and graffiti for the kids. We were gutted we couldn’t make it last year and it’s sitting high on our wish list for summer 2026!
There is a family camping area near to the car park for convenience and offering separate toilets and shower facilities. This is understandably a popular festival with teenagers and their parents – somewhere to give them a little more independence whilst still being there if they need you. We had a cracking time at Y Not Festival in 2023 though for a number of reasons chose to stay off site.
Tickets for the 2026 festival are on sale now – if you want to tip up on Thursday, you’ll need to add that on. Prices do increase in price nearer the festival so if you’re planning on going, the sooner you get your tickets the better – especially as this was a sell out event last year. Under 12s can attend Y Not Festival free of charge! (They are not guaranteed entry without a child ticket so you do need to make sure you add this to your booking!)

Kendal Calling, Lowther Deer Park, Penrith – Thursday 30th / Friday 31st July / Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd August 2026 | SOLD OUT
For as long as I can remember, Kendal Calling has sat on the last weekend in July, however this year it slips into August for the second time in a row (I believe this is something to do with the school holidays . . . )
Kendal Calling is festival I’ve wanted to go to for years but it usually falls on Ben’s birthday so it felt a bit tight to go off and leave him! Now he’s old enough to come too it’s definitely on our wish list and one I know he’d love to go to.
Being based in the Lake District, Kendal Calling does tend to fall foul of the weather so be prepared!
The 2025 Kendal Calling Festival line up looked insane with The Prodigy, Courteeers, Fatboy Slim, Kaiser Chiefs and The Wombats headlining. The festival sold out in December this year.
Tickets for 2026 Kendal Calling are already sold out. Kendal Calling tickets are priced from £179 for an adult weekend ticket with children’s tickets priced at £25 for age 6-10yr olds and £95 for 11 – 15 yr olds. Thursday entry is an additional fee. There is also a Kendal Calling payment plan available which allows you to pay for your Kendal Calling tickets over the course of a number of months!

Wilderness Festival, Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire – Thursday 30th / Friday 31st July / Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd August 2026
Wilderness Festival returns for it’s 15th incarnation in August 2026.
“A four-day party like no other. Wilderness is a weekend of escapism, high jinks, and wholesome hedonism. This is the place where you can be who you want to be. Step in, explore and indulge your wild side.”
This year’s Wilderness Festival line-up features Scissor Sisters, Carl Cox and The Last Dinner Party at the top of the bill, with Soulwax, Saint Etienne, Baxter Dury, Groove Armada and Good Neighbours also set to perform across the weekend.

Harlequin Fayre, West Acre Estate, West Norfolk – Friday 31st July / Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd August 2026
Harlequin Fayre is a small, family-friendly festival set in the Norfolk countryside, offering an eclectic mix of music, arts, and workshops. Expect a diverse line-up of live music, circus acts, and creative performances across multiple stages. With activities ranging from yoga and crafting to fire shows and late-night dancing, Harlequin Fayre is a celebration of community, creativity, and sustainability.
Book tickets for Harlequin Fayre priced from 126.90 for an adult weekend ticket (they don’t sell single day tickets). You can arrive from Thursday for an additional fee, don’t forget to book an appropriate vehicle pass too. This event typically sells out.
Festival on the Farm, Purton House Organics, Swindon – Friday 31st July / Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd August 2026
Festival on the Farm is a “small, funky and fun” festival held on aworking farm in the heart of Wiltshire, held in Purton near Swindon. This well-established music festivals offers a fantastic line-up of artists including original, tribute and cover bands.
Festival on the Farm is a dog-friendly festival.

Good Vibrations Society Festival, Pippingford Park Manor, Sussex – Friday 31st July / Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd August 2026
Taking place in Sussex’s enchanting Pippingford Park Manor on the first weekend in August this year, Good Vibrations Society offers fun for all ages where families, individuals and friends can connect through a seasoned programme of music, wellness classes, ecology, talks workshops and a wild spa!
Last year’s line up included: Norman Jay MBE, So Solid Crew, Facesoul, Gentleman’s Dub Club and Soul II Soul

Stowaway Festival, Stowe, Buckinghamshire – Friday 31st July / Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd August 2026
This August, step into a secret world of ancient woodland and lakes with hidden parties, soulful relaxation, glorious comedy, plentiful feasting and kid’s revelry at Stowaway Festival.
Stowaway is pitched as “for true ravers, new ravers and little ravers” with last year’s line up featuring Groove Armada, Greentea Peng, Leftfield and Maribou State.

Valley Fest, Chew Lake nr Bristol – Thursday 30th / Friday 31st July / Saturday 1st / Sunday 2nd August 2026
After taking a break last year Valley Fest returns for 2026!
Valley Fest claims to be “the best-tasting music festival in the South West” – this small but perfectly formed food and music festival has something for everyone making it perfect for first-time festival goers and families.
Just 9 miles from Bristol and Bath, the festival promises to show off the best of Bristol’s live music scene as well as fine local food producers – Valley Fest advise you arrive hungry!
LakeFest, Eastnor Castle Deer Park, Herefordshire – Wednesday 5th / Thursday 6th / Friday 7th / Saturday 8th / Sunday 9th August 2026
Lakefest returns to Eastnor Castle Deer Park this August with headliners including The Charlatans, Examples and Madness.
Lakefest is an annual music and arts festival featuring a range of genres, alongside art installations and family-friendly activities. The festival includes diverse food and drink options, workshops, and camping facilities, emphasizing community engagement and sustainability.

Boardmasters Festival, Newquay Fistral Beach And Watergate Bay in Cornwall – Wednesday 5th / Thursday 6th / Friday 7th / Saturday 8th / Sunday 9th August 2026
Boardmasters is situated across two iconic locations in Cornwall (making it a complete nightmare to get to but I’m told it’s well worth it!) The festival site sits above the rugged cliffs of Watergate Bay, home to arguably the world’s best festival view. There are no less than twelve carefully curated stages, with an assortment of acts ranging from local acoustic talent, to mind-bending visual performers via world class headliners.
In Newquay town itself you will find the legendary surf mecca, Fistral Beach. Surf, skate, BMX, live music and the Surf Village can all be found here at the home of UK surfing. The pro surf competitions have been at the heart of the festival for over two decades, and the festival is thrilled to welcome back the international surf league events this year. From sun up to sun down, keep the party going by diving in to the TR7 takeovers, Beach Sessions and more.

Deva Fest, Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, Cheshire – Thursday 6th / Friday 7th / Saturday 8th / Sunday 9th August 2026
Deva Fest returns for their 6th year with a line up including Ronan Keating and Jessie J.
Deva Fest is a great value family-friendly four-day extravaganza of music, comedy, camping, family entertainment, including the popular free-to-ride fairground, and fabulous handpicked food and drink stalls from local suppliers.

Bloodstock Open Air, Catton Park, Derbyshire – Thursday 6th / Friday 7th / Saturday 8th / Sunday 9th August 2026
Bloodstock is the UK’s biggest independent metal festival and takes place in the middle of August. Bloodstock 2026 has been confirmed with a number of artists announced already!
Houghton Festival, Houghton Hall, King’s Lynn, Norfolk – Thursday 6th / Friday 7th / Saturday 8th / Sunday 9th August 2026 | SOLD OUT
Houghton Festival is a celebration of art and music in the Norfolk countryside, typically taking place in the middle of August. Curated by DJ Craig Richards, it’s known for its extended DJ sets, incredible sound systems and a real focus on music discovery rather than big headline names. If you like your festivals a little more laid-back, immersive and grown-up, Houghton is well worth a look.

Gloworm Festival, Thorseby Park , Nottinghamshire – Friday 7th / Saturday 8th / Sunday 9th August 2026
Gloworm Festival is an event for families with children aged 0-14, with plenty to keep older teenagers entertained, too. After a brief visit to the picturesque Holme Pierrpont Country Park a couple of years ago, Gloworm Festival returns to it’s home of Thorseby Park for 2026
Gloworm invites grown-ups and their little people to lose themselves in their imaginations while enjoying a weekend of family fun and entertainment, in a warm and creative environment.
The 2026 edition of Gloworm Festival promises a dynamic line-up of top-tier performers, interactive workshops, thrilling rides, and engaging activities for children of all ages. From face painting to storytelling sessions, the event’s diverse program ensures an enjoyable experience for every family member.

Rochdale Feel Good Festival, Rochdale Town Hall Square, Rochdale – Saturday 8th August 2026
Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns for August 2026 with a line up of top class entertainment, food and culture across a range of indoor venues and a main stage against the backdrop of the grade 1-listed town hall.
Although the 2026 Feel Good Festival line up has yet to be announced, previous Feel Good main stage performers include Razorlight, The Coral, Feeder, The Fratellis, Scouting for Girls, Cast, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Toploader, The Feeling, The South, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, The Beat, Badly Drawn Boy, The Selector and The Lightning Seeds.
The festival is funded by the council together with ticket sales and sponsorship from local businesses.

Tickets for Rochdale Feel Good Festival main stage are now on sale. Early bird tickets are just £8 each for the first 400 sold, before general sale tickets are released at £15. For the first time, to cut single use plastic, all tickets include a Rochdale Feel Good Festival re-usable drink cup to be collected upon arrival at the festival site.
Boomtown, Matterley Estate near Winchester, Hampshire – Wednesday 12th / Thursday 13th / Friday 14th / Saturday 14th / Sunday 16th August 2026
Boomtown used to welcome families but as of 2024 is now an over 18s event. (My friend Shaz told me there was absolutely no way she’d take her kids so I think this was probably a good decision on their part.) It might be worth looking at alternative family friendly festivals if you want to take the kids!

Vegan Camp Out, Walesby Forest, Nottinghamshire – Friday 14th / Saturday 15th / Sunday 16th August 2026
Voted “UK’s best vegan festival”, Vegan Camp Out is the world’s largest vegan camping festival – enjoy three nights and four days of camping, talks, live music, afterparties, yoga / meditation classes, workshops and the UK’s best vegan food.
This year’s Vegan Camp Out moves to a new home of Walesby Forest, Nottinghamshire and sits a little earlier in August than usual!

We Out Here Festival, Wimborne St Giles, Dorset – Thursday 20th / Friday 21st / Saturday 22nd / Sunday 23rd August 2026 | SOLD OUT
We Out Here Festival hosts a line-up overflowing with genre pioneers and the most exciting emerging talent, and an array of family, wellness and cultural activities.

Camp Kindling, Sevenoaks, Kent – Friday 21st / Saturday 22nd / Sunday 23rd August 2026 | SOLD OUT
Camp Kindling is the offspring of Camp Wildfire, the UK’s Summer Camp for adults. Born from a desire to fuse the experience of a contemporary festival with an activity-packed summer camp, Camp Kindling provides an inspirational, adventure-filled weekend for families of all shapes and sizes.
Adventure by day (think mountain biking, climbing, astronomy, building shelters), party by night (we’re talking The Cuban Brothers, Rylan and Nick Cope last year), Camp Kindling is a weekend summer camp for the whole family, where grown-ups can finally have as much fun as the kids.

Camp Kindling Festival – Mini Travellers
The Green Man Festival, Breacon Beacons, Wales – Thursday 20th / Friday 21st / Saturday 22nd / Sunday 23rd August 2026 | SOLD OUT
The Green Man Festival is nestled in the picturesque Breacon Beacons in Wales near a small town called Crickhowell.
The Green Man Festival is a firm favourite with my friend Rachel who says, “The Green Man Festival is family friendly and in the summer holidays for those of us who work during term times. We’ve been 5 times now and there’s something for everyone of all ages. The stunning backdrop of the Brecon Beacons makes it the whole camping package. You can get something called a Settlers’ Pass which means you can camp on the grounds from the Monday giving you a full week to enjoy the surroundings and hang out with other Settlers. There is entertainment and activities for families before the festival officially opens on the Thursday.”

Beautiful Days is the Levellers’ family music festival organised by DMF Music since its inception in 2003. Proudly independent, Beautiful Days has no sponsorship or funding. In 2023 Beautiful Days celebrated their 20th Anniversary with tickets selling out months ahead of time.
For 2026, Beautiful Days brings together an impressive mix of indie, folk, punk and alternative music, with Super Furry Animals, Madness, Levellers, The Proclaimers, The Divine Comedy and The Beta Band among this year’s biggest names

Just So Festival, Rode Hall Estate, Cheshire – Friday 21st / Saturday 22nd / Sunday 23rd August 2026
Just So Festival was one of the very first festivals we took our children to – attending first as day guests to get a feel for it before upping our game and staying the whole weekend the following year. Just So Festival is very much a family festival, based at Rode Hall in Cheshire.
If you’re looking for slightly random but entirely magical family fun with theatre, live music and fancy dress then you won’t go far wrong with Just So Festival. Just So Festival is absolutely one of the best festivals for kids and home to some of our best summer memories despite the fact our kids have long since outgrown it!

110 Above Festival, Larmer Tree Gardens, Dorset – Thursday 20th / Friday 21st / Saturday 22nd August 2026
Returning for 2026, 110 Above Festival is a super intimate, independent music festival held in the picturesque Leicestershire countryside.
Expect a relaxed atmosphere and community spirit, with a carefully curated line-up of emerging indie, alternative, and acoustic artists alongside more established acts.
Camping pitches at 110 Above Festival are pre-allocated – what a flipping joy!

Hardwick Festival, Hardwick Hall, Co. Durham – No event 2026
Hardwick Festival have announced there will be no event in 2026 due to rising costs and lower ticket sales. It’s a familiar tale unfortunately.
Hardwick Festival returns to Hardwick Hall this August with a main stage line up including Scissor Sisters, Pet Shop Boys and Olly Murrs. Last year’s festival was a highlight of our summer so we’re heading up again this year but just for the day this time.
Hardwick Festival is the biggest event of its kind in the Northeast and continues to support the local music scene through its commitment to showcasing the best emerging talent from across the region.
Known for its family-friendly atmosphere and beautiful setting, Hardwick Festival offers an array of amazing experiences for all ages including magic shows, ventriloquists, Punch & Judy, children’s workshops, interactive discos, and a fun fair. There are rides for all ages of kids from big inflatable slides and merry go rounds for the smaller kids through to dodgems and fairground thrill rides for the adults.

Gone Wild Festival Norfolk, Holkham Hall, Norfolk | CANCELLED
There will be no Gone Wilf Festival Norfolk in 2026 after it was announced they would be “taking a break”.
Gone Wild Festival stretched their legs in 2024 and hosted not one but two festivals this summer and bringing their ultimate family adventure to Norfolk. Gone Wild Festival Norfolk will return for a second year in August 2025.
The line up for 2025 Gone Wild Festival in Norfolk includes Clean Bandit, Ministry of Sound Classical and Blue.
Expect a weekend of thrilling experiences and incredible guest speakers.
