Whilst you can just go and pick up a real Christmas tree from your local supermarket, there’s something to be said for making a real day of it – of visiting a Christmas tree farm or your local garden centre, picking out your tree and enjoying some seasonal treats while you do it. I know for lots of families this is a key festive tradition (and one I’d absolutely love to get on board with myself if only I could convince Dave to let me have a real tree).
I’ve pulled together a list of places in and around Greater Manchester where you can buy a real Christmas tree this festive season including pick your own Christmas tree farms – of course if you know of somewhere lovely that I’ve missed, please do let me know so I can add the details in!
Where to buy a real Christmas tree in Manchester and the surrounding this year:
Ivy Cottage Tree Farm, 45 Racecourse Rd, Wilmslow SK9 5LG
Ivy Cottage Tree Farm is one of the largest Christmas tree retailers in the area – they have been growing and selling Christmas trees for over 40 years!
Ivy Cottage Tree Farm sell the widest variety of Christmas trees I have found including Norway Spruce, Nordmann Fir, Fraser Fir and Lodgepole Pine. They also sell a range of gorgeous Christmas decorations.
At Ivy Cottage Tree Farm you can choose a tree that is still growing in the field (which feels really special I think), choose one that is pre-cut or buy a potted tree.​
Ivy Cottage Tree Farm is open to the public every weekend from the beginning of October, and seven days a week from the 20th November till Christmas Eve.

Christmas Tree Land at Heaton Park Garden Centre, Heaton Park Garden Centre, Heaton Park, Prestwich M25 2GT
Christmas Tree Land at Heaton Park have a range of Nordmann Fir Christmas trees available to purchase – these are priced according to size with prices remaining the same as last year! You can go to Heaton Park Garden Centre and choose your tree in person or they offer a Christmas tree delivery service.
Christmas trees will be available at Heaton Park Garden Centre from Thursday 28th November 2024.

J.Parker’s Garden Centre at Daisy Nook, Stannybrook Rd, Daisy Nook, Failsworth, Manchester M35 9WJ
Real Christmas trees are available to buy from J.Parker’s Garden Centre at Daisy Nook – trees are sold open, out of nets so you can see the quality and choose the right shape and size for your home. Once you’ve picked the perfect tree, they will trim the trunk and any branches to fit your base size, net it for easy transport and even take it to your car for you.
It has to be said their website is lacking in details so I would suggest keeping an eye on their facebook page instead.
Brookheys Farm, Brook Heys Rd, Altrincham WA14 5SY
Known for their pumpkin picking experience, Brookheys Farm also sell Nordmann Fir Christmas trees throughout December – open 11am to 3pm right up till Christmas Eve.

Hulme Community Garden Centre, 28 Old Birley St, Hulme, Manchester M15 5RG
This year Hulme Community Garden Centre have three varieties of Christmas tree available to buy – Noble, Nordmann and Fraser fir. The trees are grown in Scotland and sourced from the same family business Hulme Community Garden Centre have worked with for the last decade.

Walton Christmas Tree Centre, Chester Rd, Higher Walton, Warrington WA4 6TJ
Walton Christmas Tree Centre is open throughout December selling both field grown trees and bought in pre-cut Nordmann Fir. Prices have been kept the same for the last few years so you’re looking at spending between £30 and £45 for your Christmas tree. Delivery is not available.

Chorlton Nursery, 18A Vicars Rd, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester M21 9GY
This year Chorlton Nursery will be selling four types of Christmas tree; Nordmann Firs, Fraser Firs, Noble Firs and Norway Spruce – these trees will be on sale from Friday 28th November 2025. Chorlton Nursery offer you the option of reserving your tree and they will look after it for you until you are ready to get it into your home. You can also book a delivery service with Chorlton Bike Deliveries.
Chorlton Nursery had sold out by 11th December last year so be quick on this one!
Woodheys Christmas Trees, 299 Washway Rd, Sale M33 4EE
This information relates to a previous year and I can’t find reliable updates for 2025 – if you know anything please shout up!
Woodheys Christmas Trees pride themselves on being a local source for premium Christmas trees at affordable prices – they have a range of trees to choose from including Fraser Fir, Korean Fir, Premium Nordmann Fir and Scotch Pine.
The trees are displayed without nets (in the car park of Woodheys Club where there is plenty of parking) so you can choose the perfect tree for your space – on you’ve picked and paid for your tree (by cash, card or bank transfer), it will be netted and staff will help you to load the tree into your car.

Kenyon Hall Farm, Winwick Ln, Croft, Warrington WA3 7ED
At Kenyon Hall Farm you’ll find an indoor forest of real, fresh-cut Christmas trees – you can choose from glossy, green Nordmann Fir trees with big soft needles and a classic Christmas tree shape or the more traditional, narrower Fraser Fir with its densely packed branches.
For a more sustainable option, Kenyon Hall Farm also sell potted Christmas trees (Nordmann Firs and Spruce) which you can grow in your garden after Christmas.
To help you choose exactly the right shape and size of Christmas tree, Kenyon Hall Farm display their trees naturally before putting your chosen tree into a net and helping you load it into the car for you to take home,
Christmas trees at Kenyon Hall Farm were priced from £24.99 up to £74.99 last year – new prices incoming! Trees are available from Saturday 29th November 2025.

Dunham Barn, School Ln, Altrincham WA14 4TR
This year, Dunham Barn have beautiful Nordmann low drop Christmas trees for sale in a whole range of shapes and sizes so you’ll be sure to find just what you’re looking for.
Dunham Barn offer free parking, easy access and your Christmas tree carried to your car for you -you can even grab a glass of mulled wine while you’re there.
Christmas trees are on sale from 1pm on week days or 10am on weekends.

Manchester Christmas Markets, Manchester City Centre
I’ve often thought that the Christmas Markets are a bit of an odd place to buy a Christmas tree – who wants to drag a tree across town to the car or tram? – but actually, if you’re living Manchester city centre then the Christmas Markets are probably a really convenient place to pick up a real Christmas tree this year!
Christmas Trees Manchester
If you don’t want to go the the hassle of picking and transporting your Christmas tree, Christmas Trees Manchester will do the job for you – they will pick the perfect Christmas tree on the farm, cut it down, net it up and deliver it straight to your door. All you need to do is select your tree size and the delivery date! They even offer free delivery to households in Greater Manchester.
Do make sure that once the Christmas season is over, you recycle your Christmas tree – it’s worth checking if your local council offer a collection service, I know ours has a local drop off point to make disposing of your Christmas tree as easy as possible.
