[I am updating this post regularly with suggestions of where to go pumpkin picking in Manchester in 2026 as information & reviews become available but do check with individual venues!]
Pumpkin picking has become a real trend in recent years – a definite October half term / Halloween cliché box-ticking activity and one that I know has become tradition for many families!
Pumpkin picking experiences can vary wildly – I’ve seen some places literally just lay out rows of nice clean pumpkins in the field for you to pick up and buy whereas others are a more “genuine” experience where the pumpkin has grown in said field and actually is now ready to be removed from the plant! Either way, it’s a step up from grabbing a pumpkin from Tesco at the last minute and a great seasonal day out for the whole family.
Some pumpkin picking places literally offer you a “pick your own” experience with maybe a café serving snacks and hot drinks however, increasingly picking your perfect Halloween pumpkin is part of a wider experience involving carving the pumpkin on site and taking part in other Halloween themed activities.
Don’t forget – pumpkin picking is very much an outdoor activity and usually based in muddy fields so you’re not about to find somewhere to go pumpkin picking in Manchester city centre! Kenyon Hall Farm Pumpkin Patch – Saturday 26th September to Saturday 31st October 2026
Kenyon Hall Farm have been growing pumpkins on site for over 30 years and are now one of the biggest pumpkin picking destinations in England and are regarded as one of the best pumpkin patches in the North West – point proven by how quickly their pumpkin picking dates sell out.
This year the outdoor pumpkin patch at Kenyon Hall Farm is home to over 15,000 pumpkins grown across the farm. During October, the patches open to the public can start to run low so when this happens, the ‘pumpkin fairies’ top-up the public patches from other supplies to ensure there is always a good choice of pumpkins in the fields for you to choose from.
Pumpkins at Kenyon Hall Farm are priced according to size and prices start from £1.50. There is also a huge indoor display of ready-picked pumpkins of all shapes, sizes and colours. Kenyon Hall provides the perfect backdrop for your most insta-worthy pumpkin photos!
As an added bonus this year, Kenyon Hall have teamed up with three professional photographers for family photo shoots in the pumpkin patch! You need to book your Pumpkin Festival ticket first and then arrange your shoot directly with the photographer – you can find out more about this here.
Tickets for Kenyon Hall Farm Pumpkin Patch are on sale to newsletter subscribers first. Last year they cost of £3.95 per person and must be pre-booked online – it pays to be quick on this one as the weekends will sell out very quickly however they are open every day through October so fingers crossed you can find a slot that works for you. (Tickets are non-refundable)
Pumpkin Picking at Dunham Massey Farm Ice Cream, Ash Farm – Saturday 26th September to Saturday 31st October 2026
Dunham Massey Farm Ice Cream are growing over 30,000 pumpkins for you to pick this autumn! They have standard Jack ‘o’ Lantern pumpkins as well as giant, knobbly and white varieties! The opening times of the pumpkin patch varies according to the day of the week – booking is required this year and pumpkins are priced according to size.
Perhaps more excitingly, they also have a range of hot food (pizza, paninis and toasties), pumpkin spice lattes and of course special Halloween ice cream flavours for October!
Booking is required with entrance charged at £6 per car.
Keep an eye on their facebook page for updates and additional information and be sure to check out their sunflower trail during the summer months.
Cockfields Farm Pumpkin Patch – weekends from Saturday 3rd and then daily from Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October 2026
This October sees the return of the Cockfields Farm Pumpkin Patch. Of course your top priority will be to grab a wheelbarrow and head out to the Pumpkin Patch to choose your very own pumpkin before carving it on site in the carving area – leaving all the mess for someone else to deal with! There’s a Halloween themed tractor and trailer ride around the farm as well as a giant bouncy pillow, a fairground carousel and all the usual handling and feeding of the farm animals at Cockfields Farm.
Tickets for Cockfields Farm Pumpkin Patch must be pre-booked online and are priced from £16.95 per person including a pumpkin. Marshmallow toasting is an optional extra and can be added at the time of booking.
Mini Pumpkin Patch at Cockfields Farm – weekdays from Monday 5th to Friday 23rd October 2026
This October, Cockfields Farm Park are offering a special midweek pumpkin picking and Halloween fun event for little ones.
You’re invited to grab a wheelbarrow and head out onto the sprawling pumpkin patch where you can choose from pumpkins of all shapes, sizes and colours. Pick the perfect pumpkin to carve on site at Cockfields Farm or to take away and carve at home.
Tickets for Mini Pumpkin Patch must be pre-booked online and prices vary.
Pumpkins After Dark at Cockfields Farm – weekends from Friday 23rd to Saturday 31st October 2026
For a pumpkin picking experience with a difference this October, join Cockfields Farm for Pumpkins after dark.
As well as pumpkin picking and a pumpkin carving competition there will be live music, mouth-watering food, marshmallow toasting and even a gin bar for the grown ups!
This is not a scare event and is suitable for all ages.
Tickets must be pre-booked online and prices vary from day to day. Marshmallow toasting is an optional extra and can be added at the time of booking.
The Pumpkin Patch at Tatton Park – October 2026 dates TBC
This October half term you can visit Tatton Park Farm to meet all your Farmyard favourites and then head off to search for your perfect pumpkin from the field. You’ll choose your own pumpkin, from the field, so prepare to get your hands dirty! To ensure there are plenty of pumpkins for everyone who visits, you will only be able to choose pumpkins from the patch that you have pre-paid for. Pumpkins are priced at £4 each.
Tickets for The Pumpkin Patch at Tatton Park are available to book now – you must purchase Farm entry tickets as well as pre-booking your pumpkin.
High Legh Pumpkin Patch, Cheshire – from Saturday 3rd October 2026
Sitting over on the way Knutsford / Altrincham side of Greater Manchester is High Legh Pumpkin Patch offering 20,000+ pumpkins and 25 varieties, with pumpkins starting at £2. Entry is free and they host candlelit evening picking, SEN sessions and a golden-pumpkin hunt during half term!
High Legh Pumpkin Patch is dog friendly.
There is no need to book at High Legh, just turn up and pay for what you pick.
Halloween Festival at Reddish Vale Farm – Saturday 10th October to Saturday 31st October 2026
This Halloween, Reddish Vale Farm are inviting you down to the farm for a spooktactular time! You can visit all the animals and outdoor play areas and then join in with some “fangtastic fun” including The Spooky Express tractor ride (£2 per ride), Vampire Archery, small animal handling as well as pumpkin picking and carving! (One pumpkin per paying child). Head to the pumpkin patch grab a wheel barrow and search amongst hundreds of pumpkins, don’t forget to visit the Halloween Village and take lots of photographs!
Tickets for Halloween Festival at Reddish Vale Farm must be booked online in advance. Tickets are priced from £12.50 per person. There’s also special “Moonlit Pumpkin evenings” which are charged at £15 per person.

Reddish Vale Farm – Perfect for Under 5s
Halloween on the Farm at Lancaster Park & Animal Farm – Weekends from Saturday 10th October then daily from Friday 23rd to Saturday 31st October 2026
This October at Lancaster Park & Animal Farm you are invited to pick and carve a pumpkin from the giant pumpkin patch (and thanks to carving on site – you can leave all the mess behind!) There will be a range of Halloween themed activities as well as all the usual Lancaster Park & Animal Farm fun .
ALL bookings must be made online and will incur a 50p per person booking fee. Tickets are priced at £14 for adults (with no pumpkin) and £16 for children (including a pumpkin) / £6.50 for babies under 12 months if you want a pumpkin otherwise free.
Farmer Berties Pumpkin Patch, Glazebury, Warrington – Selected dates from Saturday 10th to Wednesday 28th October 2026
Sitting on on Warrington Road in Glazebury, opposite Bents, Farmer Berties grow their pumpkins on the farm and have a proper 22 acre pick-from-the-field patch. The coffee hut will be open, hot food vendors Bread & Byrne and Rocket Wood Pizza will be on site, plus marshmallow toasting and sweet treats from Farmer Berties’ in house baker. Farmer Berties is dog friendly.
Book tickets for pumpkin picking at Farmer Berties – Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th are a ticketed only “Pick of the Patch” event. All other dates are walk in only and do not require a ticket.
Pumpkin Festival, Grange Farm, Lowton – Saturday 10th to Friday 30th October 2026
Grange Farm, Lowton has become a popular haunt for pumpkin picking over recent years and now plays host to a full Pumpkin Festival.
As well as pumpkin there’s pumpkin carving, a spooky maze, face painting and lots more – do check the website for full details of this as activities to differ on different dates.
Pumpkin picking and the Pumpkin Festival run from mid October through to just before Halloween. (Do check the website for details of what will be available on each date as it does vary.)
Tickets for the Pumpkin Festival at Grange Farm can be booked online now. Entry is £5 per person and pumpkins are available to buy (priced between £4 and £15 each).
JG Pumpkin Pickin’ at Jersey Girls, Woodhill Road, Bury, BL8 1BS – Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October 2026
JG Pumpkin Pickin’ is back for October half term, with pumpkin picking and carving sessions running every day from Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October 2026.
Each session lasts around an hour, giving you time to head out and choose your pumpkin before taking it into the spooky barn to carve it.
Tickets cost £13 per pumpkin picker and each Pumpkin Picker can bring up to two additional visitors along with them, so you don’t need to buy a pumpkin for everyone in your group. (Make sure you grab an ice cream or a hot drink while you are there too!)
There is free parking onsite and you’ll need to check your individual start time when booking. As you’ll be heading outside to pick your pumpkin, wellies and suitable outdoor clothing are recommended.
Tickets are non-refundable and sessions tend to fill up quickly, so advance booking is recommended.

Pumpkin Picking Extravaganza at Smithills Open Farm, Bolton – October 2026 TBC
Smithills Open Farm in Bolton has long been a favourite in our family for a fantastic farm day out. This October you can also enjoy a Halloween themed day out and pick a pumpkin at Smithills Farm. With hundreds of pumpkins to choose from and staff in fancy dress.
The farm is also holding its annual daytime event which runs on weekends from Saturday 11th October and then Saturday 25th to Friday 31st October 2025
At the event there will be a spooky sweet hunt, fancy dress and a Halloween decorations.
Tickets for pumpkin picking at Smithills Open Farm must be pre-booked online and are priced at £6 per pumpkin – this is in addition to the standard entry fee.
Pumpkin Picking at Brookheys Farm, Dunham Massey – October 2026 TBC
Your pumpkin picking experience at Brookheys Farm is charged at £5 for adults and £4 for children and your entry ticket includes your car parking, a tractor & trailer ride from the car park to the pumpkin patch and back again, wheelbarrows to transport your pumpkin haul and access to the maize maze. If you’re visiting early in October, there’s also the opportunity to pick your own sweetcorn! On selected dates in October there will be face painting available.
Brookheys Farm (which incidentally is a working farm) also has an undercover eating area serving barista coffees, teas, cakes, and freshly prepared hot food.
Make sure to dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear as the pumpkin patch and maze will get muddy – it is October after all!
Dogs are welcome at Brookheys Farm for pumpkin picking but must be kept on a short lead.
