If Halloween is your thing, then Manchester has got plenty to offer this October – many of the events listed cover the whole of October and not just half term so there’s plenty of time to make the most of all the spooky, pumpkiny fun this Halloween season!

If you’re looking specifically for places to go pumpkin picking in Manchester then you’ll want this post instead where I’ve listed all the best pumpkin patches in Manchester and the surrounding area!!

FREE Frankenstein’s Monster Mash Party at Kargo MKT, Central Bay, MediaCity – Tuesday 27th October 2026

On Halloween itself, Kargo MKT are hosting a free Frankenstein’s Monster Mash Party – enjoy a morning of creepy tunes, ghoulish games, and monster-sized fun!

FREE Boomchikkaboom Family Rave! at Kargo MKT, Central Bay, MediaCity – Friday 30th October 2026

Head down to Kargo MKT this October half term for a Boomchikkaboom Family Rave.

Get the party started with good music and BIG energy! There will be dance routines, singing, pom poms, parachute mayhem, bubbles, snow machine and more!

This event is aimed at 0-10 years however all ages are welcome.

Spooks’ Autumn Art Adventure at Dunham Massey – Thursday 25th September to Sunday 9th November 2025

Join Spooks the spider on a wander through the park at Dunham Massey, where every leaf, colour and creature could inspire their next work of art.

Along the way you’ll sort colours, match leaves and hunt for natural treasures, all to help create Spooks’ most magnificent masterpiece yet.

This activity is free to take part however standard National Trust admission fees apply. Entry is free for National Trust Members.

Brick or Treat Monster Party at Legoland Discovery Centre, Trafford – Saturday 27th September to Sunday 2nd November 2025

This October take your little monsters to LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Manchester and get into the spirit at the ultimate Halloween party! There’s so many spook-tacular activities including building your own LEGO pumpkin to add to the spooky monster garden, a brand new Halloween 4D Movie – ‘The Great Monster Chase’, a “Scarevenger” hunt, a LEGO® monster building competition and a Halloween dance party with character mascots Scarecrow and Lord Vampyre.

This Halloween event is included within in the standard admission price. Pre-booking online is essential and capacity is limited. Tickets, are priced from £15.00 for children and £17.50 for adults.

Ascarium: Tricks & Treats at SEA LIFE, Trafford – Saturday 27th September to Sunday 2nd November 2025

Visit SEA LIFE this October for an immersive in-tank trail, celebrating the creepiest creatures of the deep, coupled with spell casting with a sea witch and a trick or treat surprise. Follow the trail to find the Sea Witch’s missing potion ingredients hidden throughout the depths of the tanks, where you will also discover some of the spookiest creatures of the sea and you might also receive a treat (or trick)! 

The Tricks and Treats event is included in your standard ticket price. Tickets are available to book online now priced from £18.50

The Pumpkin Patch at Cockfields Farm – Saturday 4th to Friday 31st October 2025

This October, head down to Cockfields Farm to celebrate all things pumpkin.

You’re invited to head out to the Pumpkin Patch at Cockfields Farm to choose a special pumpkin.

Enjoy the Haunted Hayride Tractor Tour and don’t forget about all the typical Cockfields Farm fun – cuddle the bunnies, meet the snakes and lizards or hand feed the barn animals. You can also take unlimited rides on the fairground carousel and bounce to your heart’s delight on the giant bouncy pillow!

Tickets must be pre-booked online priced at £17.95 for adults and £17.95 for children, under 1s are £4.95. Marshmallow toasting is an optional extra and can be added at the time of booking.

Halloween Pumpkin Festival at Reddish Vale Farm – Saturday 4th October to Friday 31st October 2025

This Halloween, Reddish Vale Farm are inviting you down to the farm for a spooktactular time! You can visit all the animals and outdoor play areas and then join in with some “fangtastic fun” including The Spooky Express tractor ride (£2 per ride) and Vampire Archery as well as pumpkin picking and carving! (One pumpkin per paying child).

As well as all the Halloween themed fun, you can still enjoy the usual Reddish Vale Farm activities including feeding the outdoor animals, cuddling the rabbits and guinea pigs and the large indoor play barn.

Tickets for Halloween Pumpkin Festival at Reddish Vale Farm must be booked online in advance. Tickets are priced at £12.50 for adults and £17.50 for children.

Witches and Wizards on the Farm at Lancaster Park & Animal Farm – Weekends from Saturday 4th October then daily from Saturday 25th to Friday 31st October 2025

This October at Lancaster Park & Animal Farm you are invited to pick and carve a pumpkin from the giant pumpkin patch (and thanks to carving on site – you can leave all the mess behind!)

There will be a haunted house to explore, spooky tales with the wicked witch, photo opportunities with the “giant spooky Halloween friends” and a fancy dress competition as well as all the usual Lancaster Park & Animal Farm fun – pet the small animals, ride the caterpillar barrel ride (if the weather is ok!), digging in the sand pit at digger corner etc.

You are welcome to take along a picnic to enjoy on the picnic benches too (flasks of hot chocolate and soup would be a winner – you can more hot picnic ideas here!)

ALL bookings must be made online and will incur a 50p per person booking fee. Tickets are priced at £13 for adults (with no pumpkin) and £15 for children (including a pumpkin) / £6.50 for babies under 12 months if you want a pumpkin otherwise free.

Gandeys Circus Big Top Halloween Spooktacular, Trafford Centre – Friday 10th October to Sunday 2rd November 2025

This Halloween, Gandeys Circus returns once again to the Trafford Centre with a brand-new action-packed legendary Halloween Spooktacular Big Top show for all the family. From the thrill acts to the big production numbers that Gandeys are famous for, the Big Top Halloween Spooktacular promises to have families ‘on the edge of your seat with excitement, rolling in the aisles with laughter, and hiding under your coats from the spooky thrills’.

Tickets for the Halloween Spooktacular are available to book now and are priced from £9.99.

Moonlit Pumpkin Evenings at Reddish Vale Farm – Saturday 11th to Sunday 26th October 2025

Reddish Vale Farm invite you to enjoy experience their pumpkin patch after dark where you can pick your own pumpkin (or you can choose form from a covered area instead if you’d rather not get muddy!)

There will be Halloween characters, live music, fun and games and of course plenty of photo opportunities. Be sure to wrap up warm!

While you’re there you’ll be able to visit and feed the outdoor animals (the indoor animal handling barn and indoor play area will be closed).

Tickets for Moonlit Pumpkin Evenings at Reddish Vale Farm must be booked online in advance. Tickets are priced at £12.50 per person. Pumpkins are not included in your ticket price and are priced according to size and type. Fair ground rides and marshmallow toasting are also additional extras.

Pumpkin Festival, Grange Farm, Lowton – Saturday 11th to Friday 31st October 2025

Grange Farm, Lowton has become a popular haunt for pumpkin picking over recent years and now plays host to a full Pumpkin Festival – with its very own haunted barn.

As well as pumpkin there’s a pumpkin carving, face painting, fairground rides and lots more.

Pumpkin picking and the Pumpkin Festival run from Saturday 11th October 2025 through to Halloween itself (Do check the website for details of what will be available on each date as it does vary.)

Tickets for the Pumpkin Festival at Grange Farm can be booked online now. Entry is £5 per person and pumpkins are available to buy (priced between £2.50 and £15 each).

Big Fish Little Fish Halloween Family Rave at Gorilla, Manchester – Saturday 18th October 2025

Big Fish Little Fish have been offering up “Family fun for the post-rave generation of parents” for over a decade now.

Celebrate Halloween with a Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave – enjoy a licensed bar and bar food, a crafting area, play doh, pumpkin balloons, a confetti blast and of course a DJ!

“Halloween at Quarry Bank” – Thursday 23rd October to Saturday 1st November 2025

Returning for 2025, the producers of Christmas at Dunham Massey are bringing a new Halloween trail to Quarry Bank – experience spine-tingling mayhem with daring fire performers, ghostly horseman, phantoms, larger-than-life spiders and much more spooky fun.

Halloween Special at Smithills Open Farm, Bolton – Saturday 19th to Thursday 31st October 2025

Smithills Open Farm in Bolton has long been a favourite in our family for a fantastic farm day out. This October you can also enjoy a Halloween themed day out and pick a pumpkin at Smithills Farm. With hundreds of pumpkins to choose from and staff in fancy dress.

The farm is also holding its annual daytime event which runs from Saturday 25th October until Friday 31st October 2025

At the event there will be a spooky sweet hunt, fancy dress and a Halloween decorations.

Tickets for pumpkin picking at Smithills Open Farm must be pre-booked online and are priced at £6 per pumpkin – this is in addition to the standard entry fee.

The Witch’s Potion Trail, Bramall Hall, Stockport – Thursday 23rd October to Sunday 2nd November 2025

This October, Batilda needs you to help find the potion ingredients she accidentally scatted around each room so that she can make her potion for Halloween night – if you can find them all there will be a small prize!

Tickets for the Witch’s Potion Trail are available to book now. The trail is recommended for children age 3+. The upstairs of Bramall Hall is not accessible by wheelchair or pushchair.

Pumpkins After Dark at Cockfields Farm – Friday 24th / Saturday 25th / Sunday 26th / Thursday 30th / Friday 31st October 2025

This October, join Cockfields Farm for Pumpkins after dark for the ultimate night-time Pumpkin picking event.

Enjoy live music, mouth-watering food, marshmallow toast, pumpkin picking, and plenty of photo opportunities and don’t forget to say hi to the animals too!

Tickets must be pre-booked online priced at £17.95 for adults and £17.95 for children, under 1s are £4.50. Marshmallow toasting is an optional extra and can be added at the time of booking.

Diggle Spooky Trail – Friday 24th October to Sunday 2nd November 2025

A little out of Manchester and up into Saddleworth, you’ll find the Diggle Spooky Trail – this is a fun spooky walk around Diggle Village finding spooky scarecrows . Your £3 trail map can be paid for online or bought on the day at The Gate Inn, Diggle Lock, Grandpa Greene’s or The Diggle Hotel.

Halloween in the City – Various events on Saturday 25th / Sunday 26th October 2025

One of our favourite things in October half term is the arrival of enormous inflatable monsters atop of some of the biggest or most iconic buildings in Manchester city centre. The rooftop monsters are set to return this year from Saturday 25th to Friday 31st October 2025. You will be find the full list of monster locations here including Exchange Square, St Anne’s Square, near Manchester Victorian Station and Depot Mayfield. (It’s worth noting that there’s usually different monsters and new locations compared to previous years so it’s always worth a wander to hunt the monsters out!).

Over Halloween weekend itself (which is just before Halloween) the Halloween in the City festival features monster line-up of new activities and experiences including a procession of roaming monsters, a monster rock music festival, story telling, a fancy dress competition and a carnival of monsters.

Raver Tots Halloween Party, Freight Island – Saturday 25th October 2025

Raver Tots are so excited to return to Manchester for a massive Halloween Party, fancy dress is encouraged! This indoor family dance party will bring the best in House, Garage and Drum & Bass with a huge effects show featuring dancers, cold pyro, bubbles, festival sized confetti blasts, multi coloured lasers and lighting, parachute games, giant balloons, a licensed bar and face painting!

Heaton Park of Horror at Zip World Manchester – Saturday 25th to Friday 31st October 2025

There’s plenty to keep monsters of all ages occupied this half-term with a frightfully fun Halloween Scavenger Hunt in the high trees at Treetop Nets!

Skellies and Wellies in the Gardens, Tatton Park – Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2nd November 2025

This October half term, take part this year’s “Skellies and Wellies Trail” at Tatton Park (we loved it last year!)

Grab your free activity sheet and hunt out ten “bone-chilling skeleton displays” around the garden – they might even have a joke or two for you.

After pressing pause on Scare Skate last year, the event makes a surprise return for 2025 with the Cathedral Gardens ice rink open on Saturday 25th October just in time for half term skating!

Halloween activities at Quarry Bank Mill – Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2nd November 2025

This Halloween at Quarry Bank Mill, there’s a whole range of things to do including Spooky tours of the Apprentice House, a Halloween trail around the Upper Garden, a spooky trail around the Mill and Halloween themed crafts in the Learning Space (Monday to Friday only)

The Halloween activities are free of charge but normal National Trust admission charges apply. There are limited spaces available so be sure to book on to a Spooky tour at Visitor Reception on arrival. (This tour is suitable for children aged 6+)

Spooktacular Fun at RHS Bridgewater – Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2nd November 2025

RHS Garden Bridgewater have lots of half term adventures planned with seasonal activities including a Wicked Plants Trail, storytelling and a Zombie Disco. Check the website for more details as to what is available on each day.

All activities are included with standard garden admission (free to RHS members and children under 5).

Levy Spooky Family Silent Disco at Levenshulme Library – Saturday 25th October 2025

Join the Our Kids Social gang for fangtastic spooky silent discos at Levy Library this Halloween!

You know the drill – grab your headphones and pick your tunes from kids’ pop on one channel and adults’ guilty pleasures on the other!

Everyone coming to this event needs to buy a ticket, pre-walkers/ babes in arms are free. The discos are aimed at children age 4 – 10. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Spooky Funfair in Heaton Park – Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2nd November 2025

Carousel funfairs return to Heaton Park this October half term for spooky themed fairground thrills. There will be a selection of children’s rides available throughout the half term for the enjoyment of younger visitors.

Spookfest at the Trafford Centre – Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2nd November 2025

This October, thrill-seekers can enjoy a range of spine-chilling rides (including Rock Rage, Ghose Train and Extreme) at Trafford Centre’s Spookfest event.

Entry tickets to the fun fair and rides area are priced at £3 per person if pre-booked online.

All rides and attractions operate on a token system. Prices range from 2-5 tokens per person, per ride (Tokens cost £1 each – you can pay for these on the day of your visit or in advance online and take advantage of special deal – 25 tickets for the price of 20). Under 2s are free of charge and do not require a ticket.

This October, Our Kids Social invite you to “Fright Island” for hands on Halloween fun and of course a legendary silent disco. There’ll be arts and crafts, a DJ, face paint and LEGO on both Saturday and Sunday this year!

Step back into Tudor times and uncover the darker side of history at Ordsall Hall this Halloween. From ghostly tales and witchcraft to the fear of the plague, the Tudors had plenty to keep them awake at night. Explore haunted chambers and shadowy corridors filled with eerie characters and spine-tingling surprises.

This spooky trail is intended to be a family friendly experience however you are asked to be mindful if your child is sensitive to spooky content and get in touch with the team beforehand if you’re unsure.

This activity costs £2 per child and can be purchased on arrival.

Pumpkin Painting at Queen’s Park Café – Monday 27th / Tuesday 28th / Wednesday 29th October 2025

This October half term, as an alternative to messy pumpkin carving, why not try pumpkin painting at Queen’s Park Café!

For the final time this year, you are invited to sign up to the ELR spellbinding school of sorcery as you take a wacky and wonderful whistle stop tour of the Wizard Academy and learn to become a master of mystery and magic.

This October half term, join the East Lancs Railway for a 90 minute spellbinding adventure of wizard themed activities and photo opportunities on a return trip from Bury to Rawtenstall!

This interactive experience will see you take lessons in the basics of broomsticks, practice your potions, receive instruction in incantation and learn to talk like a tawny owl.

This October half term, head down to Tatton Park to explore the superstitions and traditions associated with Halloween, as well as other spooky myths and legends throughout history.

Halloween Ghost Trains on the East Lancs Railway – Thursday 30th / Friday 31st October / Saturday 1st November 2025

Looking for some tricks and treats to share with the little ones this Halloween? Pay a visit to the East Lancashire Railway for a spooktacular seasonal celebration.

The Halloween Ghost Train is back to haunt the East Lancashire Railway this October. Are you brave enough to climb aboard.

Pop into a Halloween themed storytelling session and say hello to the friendly Ordsall Hall witch! You can make a bookmark to take home too.

Halloween Make your Mark at Salford Museum & Art Gallery – Friday 31st October 2025

This Halloween contribute to a giant artwork using the materials provided. Make your mark with paint brushes, crayons, or even use your hands and feet! Be prepared to get messy!

Halloween Fright Night at Smithills Open Farm, Bolton – Friday 31st October 2025

For one SPOOKY night only, experience a Halloween Fright Night at Smithills Open Farm with ghoulish guided tours including haunted tractor rides, a spooky woodland walk, zombie barns and werewolf woods! This event is not for the faint-hearted (suitable for children over 6 yrs old).

Tickets for the Smithills Open Farm Fright Night must be pre-booked online. Prices remain the same as last year at £15 per person including supper.

Lights Out (Halloween Edition) at Summit Up – Friday 31st October 2025

Enjoy a spooktacular evening of climbing and Halloween fun at Summit Up Climbing. Get your head torches ready to climb in the dark!

Halloween costumes are encouraged but remember, no loose clothing…keep the capes at home!

Clip ‘n Climb sessions are held from 4pm and must be pre-booked

No booking is required for Roped Climbing and Bouldering.

Little Monsters Halloween Ball at Irish World Heritage Centre, Cheetham Hill – Friday 31st October 2025

This Halloween, why not skip trick-or-treating, and take your little ghouls to the Little Monsters Halloween Ball at the Irish World Heritage Centre instead! The party starts at 5pm on Halloween for ghoulish games, fun and treats!

Tickets for the IWHC Little Monsters Halloween Ball can be booked in person at the IWHC or by calling 0161 697 4105. Tickets are priced at £5 per person – adults must have a ticket too this year.

Haunted Tales in the Chapel with The Peculiar Path at Lyme – Saturday 1st November 2025

You’re invited to an evening of ghost stories and local folklore in Lyme’s historic Chapel with The Peculiar Path.

Learn about spooky local legends about Lyme and the surrounding area, and hear a classic ghost story read in the traditional manner.

Book tickets for this experience priced at £14 per person. The talk will last for around 90 minutes plus interval.

From the creators of the award-winning Newsham Scream Park comes Time To Die, an extreme scare experience launching in the heart of Manchester this October. Set in a vast, abandoned industrial site just minutes from Piccadilly Station, Time To Die will plunge you into two bone-chilling scare mazes: The Die Is Cast and The Toymaker.

This is an extreme scare attraction, recommended for those aged 14 and over – this is absolutely not for the faint hearted (and no, I definitely won’t be going!)

The Halloween Trail at The Trafford Centre – October 2025 TBC

This Halloween, the makers of The Twilight Trail bring you a brand new Halloween experience for all ages at The Trafford Centre.

“Embark on a spooktacular journey filled with family-friendly scares, tantalising food and drink, and spectacular activities for all ages.

For 18 enchanting nights, a mysterious light and sound show will transform the secret woods into an explorative Halloween trail. With over 100,000 lights and immersive installations, from a skeleton dinner party to an eerie haunted shack, this promises to be an unforgettable sensory adventure for the whole family.”

Fun and Free Midweek Activities at Heaton Park – October half term 2025 TBC

Heaton Park are offering a range of free activities during half term (well I assume it’s half term for some – it’s not for us!)

• Sunday 20th October – Manchester & District Beekeepers’ Association Honey Show from 12pm to 4pm at Dower House
• Monday 21st October – Heaton Park’s Apple Day from 11:30am to 3pm outside near The Stables. Expect lots of family friendly fun including chutney tastings, apple juicing, appley games and autumnal activities.
• Monday 21st October – Join Earlybird in the Stables Classroom between 11:30am and 1:30pm for one of their popular ‘Little Green Artists’ drop-in workshops
• Tuesday 22nd October – The Creepy Crawly Show in the Stables Classroom from 12pm to 3pm – get up close and personal with some of The Creepy Crawly Show’s fascinating animals.
• Wednesday 23rd October – Heaton Hall-Oween Storytelling – this must be booked in advance
• Thursday 24th October – Halloween Crafts with Earlybird Project between 12pm and 3pm in the Stables Classroom – this is a drop-in activity with no need to book.
• Friday 25th October – Magic Show with Wacky Woody – shows will start at 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm

Witches Quest at Trafford Palazzo – October half term 2025 TBC

Take part in a spooky themed scavenger hunt around Trafford Palazzo this half term – find all the witches’ items around the centre to win a prize!

While you’re there keep your eyes peeled for some spooky characters roaming around the centre and handing out treats!

Paradise Island Adventure Golf Pumpkin Hunt – October 2025 TBC

This October half term, head down to Paradise Island Adventure Golf for their annual pumpkin hunt.

The pumpkin hunt is free to enter alongside your game of golf.

Find all 8 of their spooky coloured pumpkins on each course. One lucky entry will win 1 month UNLIMITED PASS for 4 to Paradise Island Adventure Golf!

Pumpkin Themed Crafts at Trafford Palazzo – October half term 2025 TBC

Design your own paper pumpkin sun catcher or create a spooky face to trick others at Trafford Palazzo this half term, there’s also a pumpkin and ghost badge making station!

“Born to be Wild Child” Family Halloween Party at YES Pink Room – October 2025 TBC

There are currently not details available for an event this October. The information below relates to last year’s event.

Born to be Wild Child are hosting a Halloween Bash at YES Pink Room this October across two rooms – party in the pink room with ‘Wild Child DJ playing the best rock ‘n’ roll and guitar anthems with added spooky hits, a balloon drop and Halloween themed party games and then downstairs in the basement room you’ll find Halloween themed sensory and messy play.

Be aware that there will be “club lighting” at the event though no strobes or smoke machines will be used. Noise levels are monitored to be at a safe level and will not be as loud as an adults’ club event but will be loud enough to keep the atmosphere. You might want to consider taking ear defenders if your children are especially sensitive to noise.

Book your BTBWC Halloween Party tickets priced at £7.70 per person (both children and adults need tickets for this event). Tickets are non-refundable.

Terrifically terrifying treats! at Trafford Palazzo – October half term 2025 TBC

Haunted Hotel Trail, Stanley Square, Sale – October 2025 TBC

Pick up a free trail map & activity sheet from Bean and Brush Art café Stanley Square and hunt out all the room keys to stop the ghosties and ghoulies from escaping Sale’s creepy hotel!

If you’re looking for something cheap to do to celebrate Halloween this year, then the Halloween Disco at Z-arts might just hit the mark at just £2.50 a ticket for a two hour “spook-tacular disco” with DJ Rich Reason on the decks, bringing the party vibe with Halloween classics and prizes to be won!

Join the team at Grains Bar Hotel for a “spooktacular evening filled with monstrous fun and thrills” – dress up, dance and walk the haunted walkway or try the bouncy assault course – but watch out for the Grains Bar Zombies!!

Halloween Adventures a little further afield:

Halloweenville at Partridge Fisheries, Warrington – Friday 3rd October to Friday 31st October 2025

Previously know as The Halloween Lakeside Trail, Halloweenville is a spooky Halloween themed light trail at Partridge Fisheries running throughout October. This a 0.7 mile walk around the lake with spooky Halloween music and light installations.

(We will be visiting ourselves as the start of October so will update with more details!)

Book tickets Halloweenville priced at £25 for adults and £19 for children or £80 for a family of four (2 adults + 2 children) which has shot up!
