If Halloween is your thing, then Manchester has got plenty to offer this October – many of the events listed cover the whole of October and not just half term so there’s plenty of time to make the most of all the spooky, pumpkiny fun this Halloween season!
If you’re looking specifically for places to go pumpkin picking in Manchester then you’ll want this post instead where I’ve listed all the best pumpkin patches in Manchester and the surrounding area!!

Brick or Treat Monster Party at Legoland Discovery Centre, Trafford – Saturday 26th September to Sunday 1st November 2026
This October take your little monsters to LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Manchester and get into the spirit at the ultimate Halloween party! There’s so many spook-tacular activities including the chance to make something ghost-inspired with the ultimate glow-in-dark brick builds.
This Halloween event is included within in the standard admission price. Pre-booking online is essential and capacity is limited.
The Pumpkin Patch at Cockfields Farm – weekends from Saturday 3rd October, then daily during half term from Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October 2026
This October, head down to Cockfields Farm to celebrate all things pumpkin.
You’re invited to head out to the Pumpkin Patch at Cockfields Farm to choose a special pumpkin.
New for 2026 is a spooky Halloween walk-through leading to a brand-new Halloween show, with plenty of magic, laughs and family-friendly spooky fun along the way.
There’s also all the usual Cockfields Farm fun included in your visit, with tractor rides, the Big Animal Barn, Cuddle Corner, the new Reptile Room, adventure play areas, outdoor play and the giant bouncy pillow.
Tickets must be pre-booked online priced from £16.95 for adults and £17.95 for children, under 1s are £4.95. Marshmallow toasting is an optional extra and can be added at the time of booking.
Halloween Pumpkin Festival at Reddish Vale Farm – Saturday 10th October to Saturday 31st October 2026
This Halloween, Reddish Vale Farm are inviting you down to the farm for a spooktacular time! You can visit all the animals and outdoor play areas and then join in with some “fangtastic fun” including The Spooky Express tractor ride, Halloween games, a wand making workshop, meeting Jack Skellington and friends, Witch & Wizard magic shows and stilt walking characters, as well as pumpkin picking and carving! (One pumpkin per paying child).
As well as all the Halloween themed fun, you can still enjoy the usual Reddish Vale Farm activities including feeding the outdoor animals, cuddling the rabbits and guinea pigs and the large indoor play barn.
Tickets for Halloween Pumpkin Festival at Reddish Vale Farm must be booked online in advance. Tickets are priced from £13.50 for adults and £17.50 for children.

Reddish Vale Farm – Perfect for Under 5s
Pumpkin Festival, Grange Farm, Lowton – Saturday 10th to Friday 30th October 2026
Grange Farm, Lowton has become a popular haunt for pumpkin picking over recent years and now plays host to a full Pumpkin Festival – with its very own haunted barn.
As well as pumpkin there’s a pumpkin carving, face painting, fairground rides and lots more.
Pumpkin picking and the Pumpkin Festival run from Saturday 10th October 2026 through to Halloween itself (Do check the website for details of what will be available on each date as it does vary.)
Tickets for the Pumpkin Festival at Grange Farm can be booked online now. Entry is £5 per person and pumpkins are available to buy.
Witches and Wizards on the Farm at Lancaster Park & Animal Farm – Saturday 10th / Sunday 11th and Saturday 17th / Sunday 18th October, then daily from Friday 23rd to Saturday 31st October 2026
This October at Lancaster Park & Animal Farm you are invited to pick and carve a pumpkin from the giant pumpkin patch (and thanks to carving on site – you can leave all the mess behind!)
There will be Wizard School, a Halloween Disco, giant spooky Halloween displays and a fancy dress competition as well as all the usual Lancaster Park & Animal Farm fun – pet the small animals, ride the caterpillar barrel ride (if the weather is ok!), digging in the sand pit at Digger Corner etc.
You are welcome to take along a picnic to enjoy on the picnic benches too (flasks of hot chocolate and soup would be a winner – you can more hot picnic ideas here!)
ALL bookings must be made online tickets are priced at £14 for adults (with no pumpkin) and £16 for children aged 1-15 (including a pumpkin) / £7 for babies under 12 months if you want a pumpkin, otherwise free. Booking fees are added to ticket prices.
Gandeys Circus Big Top Halloween Spooktacular, Trafford Centre – Saturday 10th October to Sunday 1st November 2026
This Halloween, Gandeys Circus returns once again to the Trafford Centre with a brand-new action-packed legendary Halloween Spooktacular Big Top show for all the family. From the thrill acts to the big production numbers that Gandeys are famous for, the Big Top Halloween Spooktacular promises to have families ‘on the edge of your seat with excitement, rolling in the aisles with laughter, and hiding under your coats from the spooky thrills’.
Tickets for the Halloween Spooktacular are available to book now and are priced from £9.99.
Moonlit Pumpkin Evenings at Reddish Vale Farm – Saturday 17th, Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th October 2026
Reddish Vale Farm invite you to enjoy experience their pumpkin patch after dark where you can pick your own pumpkin (or you can choose form from a covered area instead if you’d rather not get muddy!)
There will be Halloween characters, live music, fun and games and of course plenty of photo opportunities. Be sure to wrap up warm!
While you’re there you’ll be able to visit and feed the outdoor animals (the indoor animal handling barn and indoor play area will be closed).
Tickets for Moonlit Pumpkin Evenings at Reddish Vale Farm must be booked online in advance. Tickets are priced at £12.50 per person. Pumpkins are not included in your ticket price and are priced according to size and type. Fair ground rides and marshmallow toasting are also additional extras.
Doors to Hallowtide at Lyme – Saturday 17th October to Sunday 1st November 2026
Head to Lyme this October half term for Doors to Hallowtide, a Halloween themed trail inspired by local folklore, ghost stories and old traditions. Explore the gardens, woodland and parkland in search of mysterious decorated doors, each hiding artwork inspired by local legends and some of Lyme’s ghostly tales. It’s a slightly different take on the usual Halloween activities and is suitable for all ages.
Doors to Hallowtide at Lyme is free to enjoy however normal National Trust admission charges apply. Entry is free for National Trust members.
Haunting Trafford at the Trafford Centre – Saturday 17th October to Sunday 1st November 2026
This October, thrill-seekers can enjoy a range of spine-chilling rides at Trafford Centre’s Halloween funfair, previously known as Spookfest.
Entry tickets to the funfair and rides area are priced at £2.50 per person (plus 25p booking fee) if pre-booked online.
All rides and attractions operate on a token system. Prices range from 3-5 tokens per person, per ride (tokens cost £1 each – you can pay for these on the day of your visit or in advance online and take advantage of a special deal – 25 tokens for the price of 20, plus a £2 booking fee). Children under 70cm are free of charge and do not require a ticket.
Howl’o’ween Dog Tea Party at Kargo MKT, Salford – Sunday 18th October 2026
Even the dogs can get involved in the Halloween fun (or canine chaos?) at Kargo MKT this October! The Howl’o’ween Dog Tea Party takes place from 12.30pm–1.30pm, with each pup receiving a Halloween-themed platter of handmade treats from Ruby and Sophia’s Dog Bakery, plus a puppuccino included in the ticket price. There’ll also be a fancy dress competition, with a special prize for the best-dressed pup.
Tickets are required for dogs only so their humans can come along for free.
The Witch’s Potion Trail, Bramall Hall, Stockport – Thursday 22nd October to Sunday 1st November 2026
This October, Batilda needs you to help find the potion ingredients she accidentally scatted around each room so that she can make her potion for Halloween night – if you can find them all there will be a small prize!
Tickets for the Witch’s Potion Trail are available to book now. The trail is recommended for children age 3+. The upstairs of Bramall Hall is not accessible by wheelchair or pushchair.
Pumpkins After Dark at Cockfields Farm – Friday 23rd / Saturday 24th / Thursday 29th / Friday 30th / Saturday 31st October 2026
This October, join Cockfields Farm for Pumpkins After Dark for the ultimate night-time pumpkin picking event.
Enjoy live music, delicious food and drink, pumpkin picking, and plenty of photo opportunities and don’t forget to say hi to the animals too! You’ll also get to meet Jack & Sally Skellington and the Sanderson Sisters, join in with the spooky disco and enjoy the fairground carousel and play areas.
Each ticket includes one pumpkin to take home.
Tickets must be pre-booked online and prices vary depending on the date you choose. A family s’mores kit for marshmallow toasting is available as an optional extra.
Diggle Spooky Trail – Friday 23rd October to Sunday 1st November 2026
A little out of Manchester and up into Saddleworth, you’ll find the Diggle Spooky Trail – this is a fun spooky walk around Diggle Village finding spooky scarecrows . Your £3 trail map can be paid for online or bought on the day at The Gate Inn, Diggle Lock, Grandpa Greene’s or The Diggle Hotel.
Halloween in the City – Various events on Saturday 24th / Sunday 25th October 2026
One of our favourite things in October half term is the arrival of enormous inflatable monsters atop of some of the biggest or most iconic buildings in Manchester city centre. The rooftop MCR Monsters are set to return this year from Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October 2026, and this year they’re celebrating their 10th anniversary with a special anniversary trail across the city centre. (It’s worth noting that there’s usually different monsters and new locations compared to previous years so it’s always worth a wander to hunt the monsters out!).
Over Halloween weekend itself (which is just before Halloween) the Halloween in the City festival features monster line-up of new activities and experiences including a procession of roaming monsters, a monster rock music festival, story telling, a fancy dress competition and a carnival of monsters.
Born to Be Wild Child at The Rave-Yard, St Ann’s Square – Saturday 24th / Sunday 25th October 2026
Born to Be Wild Child are back for Halloween this October half term as part of Manchester’s Halloween in the City celebrations.
Head down to The Rave-Yard in St Ann’s Square where you can expect disco play sessions and ghoulish games from Born to Be Wild Child alongside DJ Ghostman and friends.
The Rave-Yard forms part of the Halloween in the City Weekender which takes place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October and, even better, it’s completely FREE!
Skellies and Wellies in the Gardens, Tatton Park – Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November 2026
This October half term, take part this year’s “Skellies and Wellies Trail” at Tatton Park (we loved it when we went a couple of years ago!)
Grab your free activity sheet and hunt out ten “bone-chilling skeleton displays” around the garden – they might even have a joke or two for you.
Standard Gardens and Parkland Entry fees apply – pre-book online and save 10%. Gardens entry is free for National Trust Members.

Haunted Pumpkin Patch Trail, Stanley Square, Sale – Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October 2026
Pick up a free trail map & activity sheet from Bean and Brush Art café at Stanley Square and head out to explore the Haunted Pumpkin Patch Trail this October half term!
Complete your sheet and collect your Halloween treat from Bean and Brush café.
The trail is free to take part and runs from 10am – 4pm every day from Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October.
Halloween Special at Smithills Open Farm, Bolton – Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October 2026
Smithills Open Farm in Bolton has long been a favourite in our family for a fantastic farm day out. This October you can also enjoy a Halloween themed day out and pick a pumpkin at Smithills Farm. With hundreds of pumpkins to choose from and staff in fancy dress.
At the event there will be a spooky sweet hunt, fancy dress and a Halloween decorations.
Tickets for pumpkin picking at Smithills Open Farm must be pre-booked online and are priced at £6 per pumpkin – this is in addition to the standard entry fee.
October Half Term at Dunham Massey – Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November 2026
This October half term, head to Dunham Massey for a wander through the park, where every leaf, colour and creature could inspire your next adventure.
Pick up a self-guided walk, follow a family trail and hunt for natural treasures as you explore the parkland in all its autumn colours.
This activity is free to take part in however standard National Trust admission fees apply. Entry is free for National Trust Members.
Heaton Park of Horrors at Zip World Manchester – Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November 2026
There’s plenty to keep monsters of all ages occupied this half-term with a frightfully fun Halloween Scavenger Hunt in the high trees at Treetop Nets! Expect spooky characters, mischievous monsters and ghouls hiding amongst the trees as you bounce your way around the nets. Your ticket includes an hour on the nets as well as a Halloween themed scavenger hunt.
New for 2026 is Forest Tubing after dark, where you can race down the slides through illuminated trees, keeping your eyes peeled for monsters lurking in the shadows! The experience includes an hour of unlimited slides, with plenty of spooky surprises along the way.
The Forest Tubing Halloween experience takes place between 5.30pm and 8.30pm on selected dates and is suitable for children aged 9 and over. Tickets are priced from £25 per person plus a £5 booking fee per order.

Spooktacular Fun at RHS Bridgewater – Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November 2026
RHS Garden Bridgewater have lots of half term adventures planned with seasonal activities including a Spooky Plants Trail, Zoolab animal encounters with snakes, snails and spiders, spooky grass heads crafts and an animal themed scarecrow display amongst the pumpkins. Check the website for more details as to what is available on each day.
Most activities are included with standard garden admission (free to RHS members and children under 5), although some activities, including Zoolab animal encounters, require an additional booking.
Halloween activities at Quarry Bank Mill – Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November 2026
This Halloween at Quarry Bank Mill, there’s a whole range of things to do including Spooky Tours of the Apprentice House, a Scarecrow Festival with a trail around Quarry Bank, autumn themed crafts, storytelling and games in the indoor play space and daily activities in the Scarecrow Field.
You can help Sally Scarecrow find her scare by following a trail to find ten scarecrows, each with their own tricks for keeping the crows away. There will also be scarecrow making workshops, games and a scarecrow party during half term.
The Halloween activities are free of charge but normal National Trust admission charges apply. The Sally Scarecrow Trail costs an additional £2.50 per person, including National Trust members.
There are limited spaces available so be sure to book on to a Spooky Tour at Visitor Reception on arrival. (This tour is suitable for children aged 6+ and cannot be pre-booked.)
Raver Tots Halloween Party, Freight Island – Sunday 25th October 2026
Raver Tots are so excited to return to Manchester for a massive Halloween Party, fancy dress is encouraged! This indoor family dance party will bring the best in House, Garage and Drum & Bass with a huge effects show featuring dancers, cold pyro, bubbles, festival sized confetti blasts, multi coloured lasers and lighting, parachute games, giant balloons, a licensed bar and face painting!

Kick off October half term with a free spooky craft session at Kargo MKT from 10am–12pm. Guided by the team, children will get creative making their own spooky pumpkin hanger to take home with them.
The session is completely free to attend but tickets are required for participating children.
Pumpkin Painting at Queen’s Park Café – Monday 26th to Friday 30th October 2026
This October half term, as an alternative to messy pumpkin carving, why not try pumpkin painting at Queen’s Park Café!
Prices for the pumpkin painting sessions are £13 for children including their own pumpkin to paint plus a hot dog, crisps and a drink, and £7 for adults including a hot drink and a breakfast bap.

The Wizarding Adventure on East Lancashire Railway – Thursday 29th and Friday 30th October 2026
For the final time this year, you are invited to sign up to the ELR spellbinding school of sorcery as you take a wacky and wonderful whistle stop tour of the Wizard Academy and learn to become a master of mystery and magic.
This October half term, join the East Lancs Railway for a 90 minute spellbinding adventure of wizard themed activities and photo opportunities on a return trip from Bury to Rawtenstall!
This interactive experience will see you take lessons in the basics of broomsticks, practice your potions, receive instruction in incantation and learn to talk like a tawny owl.

Myth, Magic and Mystery at Tatton Park – Thursday 29th to Saturday 31st October 2026
This October half term, head down to Tatton Park to explore the superstitions and traditions associated with Halloween, as well as other spooky myths and legends throughout history. Have a go at brewing a potion and discover some of the gruesome ingredients that were used in medicines in the past.
Be sure to dress for the outdoors!
Book your Myth, Magic and Mystery experience priced at £15 per person including vehicle Parkland Entry. Sessions run from 10.30am–12pm and 1.30pm–3pm. This event is recommended for families with children aged 7–11 years old. All children must be accompanied by at least one adult and everyone must purchase a ticket.
FREE Boomchikkaboom Family Rave! at Kargo MKT, Central Bay, MediaCity – Friday 30th October 2026
Head down to Kargo MKT this October half term for a Boomchikkaboom Family Rave.
Get the party started with good music and BIG energy! There will be dance routines, singing, pom poms, parachute mayhem, bubbles, snow machine and more!
This event is aimed at 0-10 years however all ages are welcome.

Ascarium: Tricks & Treats at SEA LIFE, Trafford – Friday 30th / Saturday 31st October / Sunday 1st November 2026
Visit SEA LIFE this October for an immersive in-tank trail, celebrating the creepiest creatures of the deep, coupled with spell casting with a sea witch and a trick or treat surprise. Follow the trail to find the Sea Witch’s missing potion ingredients hidden throughout the depths of the tanks, where you will also discover some of the spookiest creatures of the sea and you might also receive a treat (or trick)!
The Tricks and Treats event is included in your standard ticket price. Tickets are available to book online now priced from £18.50
After Dark Smithills Hall Haunted Halloween Family Fun Ghost Tours – Friday 30th October 2026
Ever wondered if there are haunted happenings at Smithills Hall? This is your chance to find out with a guided tour filled with spooky stories as the Housekeeper takes you around the Hall and introduces you to its haunted history and some of its past residents!
You never know, you just might see a ghost or two yourself!
The tour is suitable for age 6+. Children under 5 will not be admitted and the tour is not suitable for children in prams or buggies.
Tickets for After Dark Smithills Hall Haunted Halloween Family Fun Ghost Tours cost £10 per person and everyone attending must have a ticket.
Kreepy Kargo – Halloween Party! with OKS at Kargo MKT – Saturday 31st October 2026
Join Our Kids Social at Kargo MKT this Halloween from 10am to 12pm for a family-friendly Halloween party. Expect feel-good tunes and Halloween classics from the resident DJ, Bricklands LEGO® building with Duplo for smaller hands, spooky arts and crafts including monster head making and a monstrous mystery trail around the venue. There will also be a foam machine, bubbles, circus skills workshop and face painting. Fancy dress is encouraged but not compulsory!
The Kargo.MKT bar opens from 11am and food vendors from 12pm, so you can stick around for lunch afterwards.

Halloween Fright Night at Smithills Open Farm, Bolton – Saturday 31st October 2026
For one SPOOKY night only, experience a Halloween Fright Night at Smithills Open Farm with ghoulish guided tours including haunted tractor rides, a spooky woodland walk, zombie barns and werewolf woods! This event is not for the faint-hearted (suitable for children over 6 yrs old).
Tickets for the Smithills Open Farm Fright Night must be pre-booked online. Priced at £16 per person including supper.
Dayglo of the Dead Family Rave with Our Kids Social, Waterside Sale – Saturday 31st October 2026
This Halloween, Our Kids Social are bringing their family rave to Waterside in Sale for a colourful Dayglo of the Dead celebration.
Come dressed to glow and bring your best dance moves for a neon Day of the Dead-inspired family rave, with plenty of Halloween fun for the whole family.
Whilst not traditional Halloween scary dress, this event will be more a celebration of Day of the Dead with vibrant colours.

Monster Disco at Z-arts – Saturday 31st October 2026
Z-arts are doing something a little different for Halloween this year with Monster Disco, an interactive puppet performance from Headstrung Puppets. Expect music, dancing and plenty of monster fun as children are encouraged to embrace their inner monster and join in with the disco, although there’s no pressure to dance and children are welcome to just chill and enjoy the show too.
There are two 45-minute performances at 12pm and 2.30pm and the show is recommended for children aged 4–8.

Creepy Crafts, Stanley Square, Sale – Saturday 31st October 2026
Stanley Square will be getting crafty for Halloween again this year with Creepy Crafts taking place on Halloween itself, Saturday 31st October 2026.
Full details, including times and exactly what activities will be available, have yet to be announced, so I’ll update this as soon as I know more.
Little Monsters Halloween Ball at Irish World Heritage Centre, Cheetham Hill – Saturday 31st October 2026, 5pm to 8pm
This Halloween, why not skip trick-or-treating, and take your little ghouls to the Little Monsters Halloween Ball at the Irish World Heritage Centre instead! The party starts at 5pm on Halloween for ghoulish games, fun and treats! Fancy dress is encouraged!
Tickets for the IWHC Little Monsters Halloween Ball can be booked in person at the IWHC or by calling 0161 697 4105. Tickets are priced at £5 per person, including adults, and must be paid for at the time of booking.

Spooky Funfair in Heaton Park – October half term 2026 TBC

Carousel funfairs return to Heaton Park this October half term for spooky themed fairground thrills. There will be a selection of children’s rides available throughout the half term for the enjoyment of younger visitors.

Tudor Tombstone Trail at Ordsall Hall – October 2026 TBC

Step back into Tudor times and uncover the darker side of history at Ordsall Hall this Halloween. From ghostly tales and witchcraft to the fear of the plague, the Tudors had plenty to keep them awake at night. Explore haunted chambers and shadowy corridors filled with eerie characters and spine-tingling surprises.
This spooky trail is intended to be a family friendly experience however you are asked to be mindful if your child is sensitive to spooky content and get in touch with the team beforehand if you’re unsure.
This activity costs £2 per child and can be purchased on arrival.

This Halloween contribute to a giant artwork using the materials provided. Make your mark with paint brushes, crayons, or even use your hands and feet! Be prepared to get messy!
This activity is chargeed at £1 and booking is required.
Fun and Free Midweek Activities at Heaton Park – October half term 2026 TBC

Heaton Park are offering a range of free activities during half term (well I assume it’s half term for some – it’s not for us!)
- Sunday 20th October – Manchester & District Beekeepers’ Association Honey Show from 12pm to 4pm at Dower House
- Monday 21st October – Heaton Park’s Apple Day from 11:30am to 3pm outside near The Stables. Expect lots of family friendly fun including chutney tastings, apple juicing, appley games and autumnal activities.
- Monday 21st October – Join Earlybird in the Stables Classroom between 11:30am and 1:30pm for one of their popular ‘Little Green Artists’ drop-in workshops
- Tuesday 22nd October – The Creepy Crawly Show in the Stables Classroom from 12pm to 3pm – get up close and personal with some of The Creepy Crawly Show’s fascinating animals.
- Wednesday 23rd October – Heaton Hall-Oween Storytelling – this must be booked in advance
- Thursday 24th October – Halloween Crafts with Earlybird Project between 12pm and 3pm in the Stables Classroom – this is a drop-in activity with no need to book.
- Friday 25th October – Magic Show with Wacky Woody – shows will start at 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm

Paradise Island Adventure Golf Pumpkin Hunt – October 2026 TBC

This October half term, head down to Paradise Island Adventure Golf for their annual pumpkin hunt.
The pumpkin hunt is free to enter alongside your game of golf.
Find all 8 of their spooky coloured pumpkins on each course. One lucky entry will win 1 month UNLIMITED PASS for 4 to Paradise Island Adventure Golf!

Scare Skate at Skate Manchester, Cathedral Gardens – No event for 2026
After making a surprise return for Halloween 2025, Scare Skate won’t be taking place this year as the Cathedral Gardens ice rink doesn’t open until Friday 6th November 2026.
