This October, The Little Cow Shed in Brereton Heath, Congleton has been transformed into The Creepy Little Cow Shed with a fantastic pumpkin patch and a range of special events including dog shows, pumpkin floristry classes, twilight pumpkin picking and even a “Freaky Fridays” scare event for those age 14+.
I took the girls and a friend each to The Little Cow Shed on Saturday morning to check out their pumpkin patch – we were treated to some gorgeous autumnal sunshine and the girls were all on cracking form. We spent about an hour wandering around the pumpkin patch, hunting out the very best pumpkins and taking lots of photos!
The pumpkin patch itself is a proper traditional pumpkin patch in that this is the field the pumpkins are actually grown in rather than just a field that someone has distributed pumpkins in . . . Many of the pumpkins were still on the vine as they are still growing, but there were plenty of pumpkin of all different shapes and sizes ready for us to choose from.
The Little Cow Shed have plenty of wheelbarrows stacked up near the entrance for you to grab and fill with your chosen pumpkins (or children in our case!). They also have some very cute little barrows for the smallest of visitors!
There’s plenty of opportunities for photos – both with the pumpkins themselves and with the backdrops and large scale props dotted around the pumpkin field.
The pumpkins at The Little Cow Shed are priced according to size ranging from £2 for tiny ones to £25 for the most enormous ones. We spent about £14 on pumpkins which I didn’t think was bad at all – I should say we stuck to fairly small pumpkins though!
There are toilets on site and places to sit undercover if the weather isn’t great. When we visited on Saturday, the sun was shining and the ground was pretty dry – the team at The Little Cow Shed have spread straw through the main pathways in the field too to minimise mud but I would definitely recommend wearing wellies or walking boots!
Once we’d paid for our pumpkins, we treated ourselves to The Little Cow Shed milkshakes from the vending machine – I had expected to be buying hot chocolate but honestly it was such a nice day that milkshake was definitely the way forward! The Little Cow Shed currently have special Halloween flavours available including red chocolate and spiced pumpkin (which I’m really not sure about – we didn’t try it!). We also bought a special limited edition Halloween milk bottle and filled it with milkshake to take home for Ben.
All in, we had a lovely morning at The Creepy Little Cow Shed for our first ever pumpkin picking experience!
Entrance to The Creepy Little Cow Shed is charged at £3 per person and can be pre-booked online. Parking at The Little Cow Shed is free but limited – if there isn’t enough space, there is a pay and display car park at the country park over the road.
