Villa Plus asked me to choose my favourite destination for a Christmas getaway . . . what a tricky question! If I was going to go away for Christmas my first thought would be to go somewhere cold and snowy – Lapland right, home of Father Christmas and the reindeer! However Villa Plus have villas in a range of sunshine destinations – the island of Kefalonia looks particularly beautiful.
Whilst I know some people like to go away for Christmas to escape the stress and fuss that’s not my style. If I was to spend my Christmas in Kefalonia I think I’d have to go over the top on all the festive details so it really felt like Christmas.

Kefalonia or not I’d need a massive turkey with all the trimmings, piles of Christmas decorations, a lovely big tree and lots of lights, presents, Christmas jumpers, all the standard cheesy Christmas tunes . . . you name it! I’d definitely be working hard to make sure that it really felt like Christmas by carrying out all the same traditions and festive routines as we do at home – but in the sunshine!
I think we’d also have to watch lots of Christmas films! I recently asked on Facebook what people’s favourites were – Elf was definitely top of the list!
What would you need to take with you to make it feel like Christmas?
I don't think I could ever spend Christmas away from the UK, it just wouldn't feel… right. x
I totally agree – I have friends and family in Australia and I just think their Christmas must be so odd!
