I was going through some old content and came across this post and decided I’d write a “now version” as I liked the structure of it. I spend a lot less time writing about us as a family, or about me. The focus of my site changed a bit as the kids get older and rightly so, but I do miss just spilling my thoughts every now and again so that’s what you’re going to get here – a bit of old school blogging! Ready?

Currently I am: Getting back to some semblance of routine after our holiday in Turkey – updating lots of seasonal content on my website and starting to think about Christmas.
Reading: I’ve read loads so far this year – in part due to having three holidays! I’ve really got back into the habit of picking up my kindle in bed at night and reading a chapter or two (sometimes this does just stop me going to sleep so I need to find a bit of a balance there!). I’m reading a real mix of stuff at the moment – I’ve recently listened to The House of Hidden Meanings by Ru Paul and Tales from the Dancefloor by Sacha Lord as well as reading a couple of children’s books (Time Travelling with a Hamster and Goldfish Boy). I really enjoyed Sara Cox’s Way Back and Mike Gayle’s The Hope Family Calendar.
Listening to: In the car I’m listening to podcasts – That Peter Crouch Podcast and The Therapy Crouch are my favourites for a bit of light relief but I also really enjoy Sidetracked, Dish and Happy Place. At home I’m listening to Maximo Park and Becky Hill ahead of going to see them this month.
Laughing at: Silly in jokes on holiday with Dave – I’ve always said if we stop making each other laugh we’re in trouble.
Swooning over: Cosy new brushed cotton bedding and blankets. Dave in particular loves a brushed cotton duvet cover at this time of year so we could do with a second one really and I’m always looking at cosy new blankets at this time of year ready for hunkering down through the colder months.
Planning: Christmas shopping (I feel like I’ve usually got a better idea of what I want to be buying by now!) We’re also planning next year’s holidays – we have one trip that’s all booked and planned, we just need to sort flights and then two more that are currently in the research stages and may or may not happen.
Eating lots of: Olives. We ate so many olives on holiday!
Feeling: A little out of sorts – I think some of it is seasonal, some of it hormonal and some just worries and stresses that I need to get on top of.
Discovering: How much fun pumpkin picking is! We don’t really celebrate Halloween and had never been pumpkin picking before but we went to The Little Cow Shed earlier this month and had a really fun morning!
Watching at the cinema: I haven’t been to the cinema since the school holidays but I took the kids to see Inside Out 2 (I wasn’t overly impressed with it) and I also took myself off to watch It Ends With Us – I’d never been to the cinema on my own before but it honestly felt like such a luxury and it’s definitely something I’d like to do again soon!
Wearing: A lot of leggings – nothing new there – though I have found a new brand of leggings which I’m really liking. I’ve just started to pull some cardigans out of my wardrobe too – I do love a long cozy cardie. And I’ve definitely swapped by sandals for trainers again now (I often find myself buying men’s trainers over women’s trainers just to get that bit of extra space for my orthotics!)
Cooking: I don’t really do cooking, that’s Dave’s department! I missed his cooking when we were on holiday though – all inclusive got a bit repetitive over the course of a week.
Wondering: What next? I’m feeling a little directionless – I did very little teaching last year and whilst I haven’t missed it, I did enjoy the days I did if that makes sense – I do still love working with children. I absolutely love writing and working on my website but things need a little shake up in that area too – we shall see what this new season brings. I’m a big believer in things working themselves out in the end.
So, that’s a little snapshot of where I’m at this month!
