It has become something of an end of year tradition now to go through my top performing posts of the year (discounting giveaways). As is usually the case, there is a good mix of old and new – some posts which are four or more years old, others which are a matter of months. I love looking back through my traffic over the course of the year – sometimes the posts you think will be really well received never see the light of day, others you write purely for your own benefit and they turn out to be really popular. My top ten this year shows the efforts of some behind the scenes SEO work I think with quite a bit of older content sitting high in my top ten!
So, without further ado, here’s my top ten most viewed posts of 2019:
10. Taking the First Steps to Get Support for Hair Pulling
In December 2018 I wrote about my little girl and her compulsive habits and this was one of my most viewed posts of that year. In March of this year I wrote an update about taking the first steps to get support for hair pulling – we’ve made some progress this year but I can’t say it’s thanks to any support from medical professionals in the end! I promise I’ll write an update really soon as I get so many messages asking me how she is.
9. A Rainy Weekend at Center Parcs, Whinfell Forest
This is the first of two appearances for Center Parcs content in my top ten – our rainy weekend at Center Parcs in June 2018 is packed full of information about what there is to do at Center Parcs Whinfell Forest if it’s raining, or between the showers!
8. Where to see Santa in York this Christmas
This is the most recently published post to feature in this year’s top ten having only been written in mid-October but after a steady start it picked up well in December making it the 9th most viewed post on my site this year! Hopefully it will have helped to inspire some lovely festive adventures!
7. 10 Reasons you need to use Google Keep
Right at the start of 2018 I wrote about Google Keep and why I think you should be using it too – Dave and I have been using Google Keep for about four years now and wouldn’t be without it! Definitely one to look at if you’re planning on trying to be a bit more organised in the new year!
6. Center Parcs, Whinfell Forest – Our Three Bed Executive Lodge
It’s a good 18 months since our trip to Center Parcs, Whinfell Forest and it’s one the kids still talk about – they often ask when we can go back! Our Center Parcs accommodation tour video is one of our most viewed videos of all time too.
5. Twenty Reasons why you should book Holiday Village Tenerife for your next holiday
Last year this post was my 3rd most popular post and I’m thrilled to see it is still in the top ten of my most viewed posts. We had the most awesome holiday at the all inclusive Holiday Village Tenerife and the kids still talk about it now – so hopefully this post has continued to help people book their own holidays!
4. Visiting Siam Park with kids
After our summer 2018 trip to Siam Water Park, I shared our fifteen top tips for visiting with children. This post was my 9th most popular post last year and has climbed to my 4th most viewed post this year – which is satisfying!
3. Family Friendly Festivals to Consider This Year
Attending festivals as a family is something we’ve really enjoyed over the last few years and this comprehensive post features some of our favourite family friendly festivals as well as some of those which are on our radar for possible future visits!
2. SensatioNAIL Peel Off Gel Nails – Review
My second most viewed post of the year is a review of the SensatioNAIL Peel Off Gel nail system which I was initially sceptical about but which in the end turned out to be a real game-changer in terms of my relationship with gel polish – I was finally able to have damage free gel nails and at a fraction of the cost of a salon manicure!
1. How to Remove Blu-Tac from Hair
This post get search traffic every single day without fail. It has been my most viewed post for at least the last five years and remains in the top spot for 2019 so I think that counts it as the most successful post I’ve ever written – a quick post with terrible photos to share some information I’d found useful!
So there you go – the top ten most viewed posts on my blog during 2019. A mix of old and new, helpful and personal, just like last year. My blog is now almost seven years old and I have no intention of stopping writing any time soon! The content I create is constantly evolving depending on what I want to write about and where we are at in life – of course as the children get older I feel less able to share things about them and I suppose I write about the ordinary moments less, which is perhaps a shame considering it’s what I started writing for – something to consider in the new year.
