As the end of 2017 approaches, and we start looking forward to a new year of adventures and challenges I thought it would be nice to look back over my top performing posts of the year. So, discounting giveaways & reviews, the following are the top ten most viewed posts on We’re going on an adventure during 2017:
10. 11 Reasons to visit Canon Hall Farm this Spring
I must admit I was quite surprised to see this post featuring in my top ten most viewed posts but we love Canon Hall Farm and this post explains exactly why you should visit in the springtime.

9. Happy Days
I wrote this post during a particularly fraught part of the school holidays when I felt absolutely ready for a break but a throwaway comment from a gentleman in the supermarket car park made me see things differently.

8. How to use hashtags on instagram
This forms part of a series of posts I wrote about Instagram after a talk I gave at Blog On with Katie from Mummy Daddy Me and published at the end of 2016. Instagram has changed a lot of the course of this year and there has been a lot of talk about the way that hashtags work and might work in the future but I think this post still holds relevance if you want to learn more about what hashtags are and why you should use them!

7. I’m going to be a farmer’s wife
This post is about empowering my children and raising girls who know they can be anything they want to be. At the moment Amy still insists she will be the farmer’s wife so she can be a mummy. I’ve got some work to do before she understands that she can do both if she chooses.

6. Applying for a Primary School Place
This post is several years old now, I wrote it when I was applying for Chloe’s primary school place and it became relevant for us again this year as I was applying for Amy’s place in Reception (I still can’t believe I’ve actually done that!)

5. Please Just Read with your Child
After reading that one in five parents don’t read with their primary school children, I had to write this post encouraging parents to take the time to read with their children.

4. Hashtags for Instagram
This is the second post in the top ten from my Instagram series – this time I shared some of my favourite hashtags for instagram!

3. How to Help Your Friend with Hyperemesis Gravidarum
I’m thrilled to see this post featuring so highly in my top ten of the year – I wrote it after seeing my very good friend Molly, battling her way through HG and wrote it as a way of celebrating her survival and the birth of her beautiful baby girl. This post was widely shared in HG groups and also featured as Mumsnet Blog of the Day which was a first for me.

2. The Gruffalo Trail, Delamere Forest
This post is now almost four years old and The Gruffalo Trail in Delamere Forest has been through several guises in that time however this posts consistently pulls in search traffic. (The next trail is going to be The Highway Rat which we’re really looking forward to!)

1. How to Remove Blu-Tac from Hair
This post get search traffic every single day without fail and has been my most viewed post for at least the last two years! I honestly think it’s something every parent probably needs to know at some point – in fact I had to call on it again recently when Chloe appeared with a huge chunk of blu-tack stuck in her long hair.

So there you go – the top ten most viewed posts on my blog during 2017. I mix of old and new, helpful and personal – I love that my blog gives me a space to write about anything and everything I feel like. It’s a creative outlet – a place to record memories, to express myself and a source of income which allows me to work from home. Thanks for sticking with us for another year, I can’t tell you how much I appreciated your support. And, if there’s anything you’d particularly like to see from us over the next year – leave me a comment!
Blu-tac in hair must be a common issue then!
I really enjoy your posts about hashtags, they’re really helpful. I’m very slowly learning which ones to use.
Haha it doesn’t surprise me that how to remove blu-tack from hair is up there! I was googling how to remove slime earlier this year and your post was helpful! The hashtags posts were also super helpful to me when I was trying to get to grips with Instagram!
