Already our gorgeous little girl is one month old!
Before you have a baby everyone says to you “Every moment is precious, you won’t believe how quick they grow” and until you are there in those moments you don’t realise how fast time slips by. I’m quite sure time never goes faster than when you have children.
So at a month old Amy weighs just short of 10lb. She’s a cracking little feeder and loves a bit of boob. Is there anything better than a newborn milk drunk face?! Bliss. She has been wearing 0-3 month sleepsuits since birth and at just one month old I can see plenty of those aren’t going to last her much longer – the legs just aren’t long enough! She has plenty of room to grow in her arms or in the body but she must just have really long legs. She clearly has her Daddy’s genes.
At the moment she has lovely dark blue eyes and still has a full head of lovely thick dark hair! People can’t help but comment on it! I do wonder if she will lose it. She looks like a proper little person rather than a baby – she doesn’t have chubby baby thighs or anything. My Dad always said that Ben was born a teenager and Amy has that same grown up look about her. She really does look like her brother too.
Our sleep situation seems to be improving – although she doesn’t generally like to go to bed before about 1am. In the last few days she has started to go straight back down after feeds at night which makes life much easier and means Dave doesn’t really have to get up once he’s got her down in bed. Over the last few nights she has slept extremely well, going to bed much earlier (11pm last night) and then not waking till 4.30am for a feed and then about 6ish. This is a big improvement on every hour or two – long may it continue! (Though I knew perfectly well not to count my chickens – and in fact have probably cursed myself even just typing that last paragraph!)
She is absolutely adored by Ben and Chloe – she likes to watch them as they put their faces really close to her to touch noses. Chloe is besotted with her little sister and refers to her constantly as “My Amy” – she really panics if Amy is upset and will make sure we are aware of it and are going to do something about it – “You check My Amy ok? My Amy sad, My Amy crying, you keep My Amy safe!”
She seems to really like Mumford and Sons – several times I’ve put these two tracks on and she has stopped crying momentarily. I found myself singing along to them to her this afternoon and she calmed right down – makes a change from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!!
