As ever the months are flying by – it feels like no time at all since I was writing about Amy’s first birthday and here we are at 13 months old. Did I lose part of November?
Strictly speaking we’re not really weaning anymore – Amy will eat, and does eat, pretty much anything we offer her. She doesn’t eat any “baby food” as such now and even enjoyed her first proper “kids’ meal” off the menu when we ate out last weekend. She’s a big fan of anything she can smush in her mouth herself and really won’t entertain being spoon fed unless it’s something like yogurt or a cheeky chocolate mousse! In terms of her formula she’s still taking her three 6oz bottles a day and just the one at night. I couldn’t tell you the last time she woke for two (cue a run of sleepless nights ahead now I’ve just written that). She enjoys the odd drink of cows’ milk during the day but would usually rather have water.
As ever the big question is – Is she sleeping through? Even Chloe asks most mornings now, “Did Amy sleep through last night Mummy?” and sadly more often than not the answer is Nope, not this time. That said she has randomly managed a run of four nights on the bounce this week equaling her previous four night record and I’m rather hoping she continues it over the weekend for Granny and Grandad!!
The daytime sleeps are much like they were last month, a good sleep first thing in the morning after the school run and then she likes another kip around 3pm, however won’t fall asleep in the pram for me (does it for Ange no problems though little monkey) so it doesn’t fit very well with the school runs!
I’m steadily clearing out the 9-12 month bits in her drawers as the outgrows them and adding more 12-18 months. I’m loving getting some of my old favourites out from when Chloe was little but as ever so much of it is seasonally inappropriate!
Another month – another tooth, we’ve got six now! (Two bottom, four top)
Shortly after her birthday Amy discovered that she can walk around whilst pushing something – she was very pleased with herself (and we were pretty impressed too!) I don’t think she’s far from taking her first proper steps now – in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if she does it this weekend for Granny! I missed both Ben and Chloe’s first steps so why break with tradition now? She doesn’t stand unaided yet however she’s becoming increasingly controlled when getting down to the floor if you’ve been holding her hands.
This month’s new phrase is the most useful “Ta dah” – yes for some reason I’ve taught my 13 month old daughter to say “Ta dah” . . . she’s very cute and repeat “Daaah”. She does enjoy a good old chat, particularly with Chloe!
Family & Friends
My little lady is pretty sociable and generally enjoys a good old chat and a smile with anyone who will pass the time of day with her. She had a full day with Nana & Denis earlier in the month while I was out and Daddy was working on the house so it was nice for her to be able to spend a bit more time with them. This weekend we’re going to be leaving her with my parents for the weekend – this is a first as she’s only ever been left over night with one of us up until now but she’s perfectly happy with Granny and Grandad so I don’t forsee any problems.
Much like last month I would say her favourite person is probably Chloe – they find each other so funny! I think once she’s up on her feet the relationship will blossom even more.
I’m going to copy and paste her “favourite things” from last month as they haven’t changed at all . . . she enjoys singing, big tickled, playing games with Ben and Chlo. As long as she’s getting a bit of fuss and attention she’s happy!
She’s still a big fan of putting things in and out of pots and she does love her thumb!
Not so favourite things
Apart from hats & hoods there isn’t really anything I would say she dislikes. She’s not very good at being wrapped up in her pushchair – and I often worry about her being cold, she just pulls things off and kicks them!
And that hair!
She’s about ready for another hair cut now – she’s starting to look a bit scruffy! I managed to get her hair into a proper ponytail for the first time last week but the sides are just a bit too short really.
